It's quite possible @luchyl, that Everett may have landed in more trouble than he anticipated since he barreled head first into the fight not knowing his opponent. And over a girl's affections which may not have been 100% in his direction.

I guess his jealousy was borne out of finding out that the girl might have had more interest in the other guy. Su he decided to fight him as a way of venting his anger and frustration.

That's a good possibility. Entering into romantic relationship as a teen without understanding the complexities of relationships in general is a recipe for turmoil. Take care.
