Anniversary is meant to remember the event of the past that occupies a special spot in someone's heart.
I am not that active when it comes to celebrations or anything that would put me at the center of attention. However, there are some events that ushered one into a fulfilling future. When such a future is manifesting, you can't help but celebrate the day that such an event happened.
It is on this note that I look forward to the three years wedding anniversary of my wife and I. It is particularly important to me because my wife came to wipe my tears. She proved to me that love indeed exists.
Ever since she said "I do" to my proposal, we have been growing from strength to strength. We have been very supportive to each other. We are individually the greatest adviser to each other.
When I was a bachelor, one of the things that I didn't like doing was cooking. I was taught how to cook by my mother but laziness wouldn't allow me to cook. I preferred buying food from restaurants. My wife came and changed the narrative. With the standard of meals that she took it upon herself to prepare daily, I have no reason to consider food from anywhere else.
The union is blessed with a child. The growth of my son has made my existence more fun and amazing. Seeing him running around the house while calling "papa" makes me proud. My imagination of being a father many years ago has become a reality and the experience is worthwhile.
The prerequisite to this happiness that I am witnessing with my wife and son is the wedding that took place more than two years ago. I look back to the day and feel proud that I took the right decision by marrying my wife. For this reason, the day is worth more than celebrating. I am willing to mark the third anniversary of my wedding in a special way.
We have lined up some activities to mark the anniversary.
We plan to go on a vacation by traveling to Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi, Nigeria. I have been there and my wife loves to experience the natural habitat of the reserve. We love to spend time with nature and that place is perfect for our adventure.
From the reserve, we plan to visit an amusement park so that the day would not only be memorable to us but to our son who would have the opportunity to play and have maximum fun. We haven't gone to such a place since his birth.
That day is very special to my wife because it doubles as her birthday. In commemoration of her birthday, we will have a cake to celebrate the day with loved ones. I have people in Bauchi that would join us for the birthday celebration. Of course, other friends and family outside the city will be invited to join us to celebrate the birthday and the third anniversary of our wedding.
To wrap up the anniversary, we plan to visit an orphanage home in order to celebrate with the kids there. It has always been of interest to me to show love to the orphans.
The anniversary will afford us the opportunity to reflect on the journey so far. We will celebrate our wins and chart a way forward to solving the identified challenges.
