Hive Chess Tourney Round 10

in The Chess Community14 days ago

Having played 10 rounds of the Hive chess tournament, I can boldly say I have improved my chess skills. Not only have I been able to get used to playing under pressure, but I have also learnt how to keep up with higher-rated players, even though most of the times in this competition, most of my losses came from higher-rated players, but the good part of everything is that every time I play with Higher rated players, I learn a new thing from them. For instance, whenever I play with the host, Stayoutoftherz, I have tendencies to make blunders. So, I try to play carefully, yet steadily. The 10th round of the Hive Chess tournament wasn't so bad. Although my network messed with me a bit, I managed to play good games. As usual, I’ll be reviewing my games in this post.

Game 1 and 2

My first game was against Kon, a much lower-rated player. I have played with him a couple of times in this tournament (most games of which I beserked) and didn't lose to him once. Although he is a lower-rated player who keeps getting paired with higher-rated players, he keeps joining the tournament. I love his spirit. Unfortunately, he didn't move for the whole 3 minutes and I won the game. I guess he forgot about the tournament.

Next, I got paired with Tortyllan. Tortyllan is one of the top players in this tournament. Ever since I started playing in Hive chess tournament, we have played 11 games with 9 wins to him, 1 to me, and a draw. Yesterday, I made a blunder and he capitalized on it- I put my queen diagonally in front of my king. The image below describes my blunder. After that, I just knew there was no point playing on so I resigned.

GAME 3 and 4

Next, I got paired with AMMORYT1, another lower-rated player. To gather enough points, I knew I had to win against all the lower-rated players I got paired with. I didn't take any chances in winning my games against them. The first blunder he made was to leave a pawn hanging. After capturing the pawn, I forked his queen and King with my Knight. Who doesn't like Knight Forks? He resigned afterward. Sweet win.

GAME 5

My 6th game was against Vasigo. Vasigo and I have played a total of 11 games (since I started playing in the Hive Chess tournament, with 9 wins to me and 2 to him. I played better against him in yesterday’s game. 1 had 0 mistakes, 0 blunders, and just 1 inaccuracy. Unfortunately for him, he blundered one of his officials. Knowing I had more materials, I started playing offensively. I won my game against him.

I also played against top players like Jonbellion fan and Stayoutoftherz. I suppose yesterday’s round was the last round of this season (season 19). During this break, the goal is to train well and come back stronger,
