Birds Symbolize Lifestyle
Being bird crazy is part of my makeup, when posed this question it is difficult to select one since there are many around my home in stone, wood, glass you name it, I most probably have been given it bought it, or simply photographed it out of fascination.
Am I an artist, not at all, I create through a lens and/or words, feelings that is typically as far as it goes within the realm of creatives.
My kitchenware has a bird motive that has served me well, a gift selected by my Mom in 1976, Noritake 9028 Felicity, Blue/Gray Birds On Gray, Coupe Shape set in daily use, Mom's know best when it comes to your character!
Still around the home, on arrival through our only entrance on the courtyard wall are birds seen in South Africa, all done by local artist with initials EvW on each.
Outdoor pond has the hoopoe bird, before we became familiar with them when on holiday outside of Warmbaths in the then Transvaal we sighted them calling them the "Sondela bird" as that was the place we were staying at and their logo, chuckle to myself, my sons still refer to them with nickname given.
My bathroom Fish Eagle stands guard on tall cupboard, reminding me to constantly look up when they call. Purchased at our local nursery, another local artist no initials or name given.
Kitchen cupboard has an Owl we sighted on our first holiday outing after lockdowns with my brother to Champagne Castle in the Drakensberg. In the late evenings Cape Eagle-Owl calling up and down the small stream adjacent to the accommodation. My sister-in-law made/gifted me this to never forget the wonderful time spent up there enjoying life to the full!
Sharing some with other memories for fun, the one that impressed me most was inside an old farmhouse where the kitchen decoration as you can see was named with each fowl, now to me that was impressive with whoever created these many years ago. Our stay in the farmhouse for a long weekend down the coast on a Macadamia Nut farm, what a treat with homestead still having many originals within.
