Where to go if I like movies? [eng/spa]

If you are a lover of the seventh art and have ever thought about sightseeing in Havana, you can't miss the ICAIC headquarters! For those who do not know it, I share with you that this place is located on the busy 23rd avenue of Vedado, between 10th and 12th streets.
I pass by this place very often, because it is a common route for thousands of locals every day, but I had never really delved into the magic it transmits. The photos I share in this post are a memory of my first visit, but I can assure you that it will not be the only one.

Si eres amante del séptimo arte y alguna vez has pensado en hacer turismo en La Habana, ¡no puedes dejar de visitar la sede del ICAIC! Para los que no lo conocen, les comparto que este sitio está ubicado en la concurrida avenida 23 del Vedado habanero, entre las calles 10 y 12.
Yo transito por ese lugar con muchísima frecuencia, porque es una ruta común para miles de capitalinos cada día, pero realmente nunca antes me había adentrado en la magia que transmite. Las fotos que comparto en este post son un recuerdo de mi primera visita, pero desde ya puedo asegurar que no será la única.

To put you in context, I will tell you that the ICAIC (Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos) is the heart of Cuban cinema. Established more than 60 years ago, it has not only been a bastion for Cuban filmmakers, but has also played a crucial role in the history of the seventh art on the island. When you visit its headquarters, you immerse yourself in a world full of creativity and passion for cinema. I assure you that it is an experience that goes beyond the superficial.
In addition, the place itself has a unique feel. You can walk through its corridors and feel like you are in a movie, surrounded by vintage posters of iconic films and photographs of great filmmakers. I especially relived moments of my childhood remembering movies that marked that beautiful stage of my life.

Para ponerlos en contexto, les cuento que el ICAIC (Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos) es el corazón del cine cubano. Establecido hace más de 60 años, no solo ha sido un bastión para los cineastas cubanos, sino que también ha jugado un papel crucial en la historia del séptimo arte en la isla. Al visitar su sede, te sumerges en un mundo lleno de creatividad y pasión por el cine. Te aseguro que es una experiencia que va más allá de lo superficial.
Además, el lugar en sí tiene un aire único. Puedes pasear por sus pasillos y sentirte como en una película, rodeado de carteles vintage de películas icónicas y fotografías de grandes cineastas. Yo especialmente reviví momentos de mi infancia al recordar películas que marcaron esa etapa tan linda de mi vida.

And speaking of movies, if you are a movie lover, the venue offers constant screenings of classics and premieres of Cuban and Latin American cinema. These screenings are an excellent way to learn about Cuba's cultural perspective through its cinematography. In addition, there are talks and events that bring you even closer to the history of cinema on the island - you never know who you might meet at one of these screenings!
Another attraction is its small but charming store, where you can find books, DVDs and souvenirs related to cinema. It's the ideal place to take a little piece of Cuban culture home with you. And, if you're lucky, you might run into a well-known filmmaker who is giving a talk or participating in a special event.

Y hablando de cine, si eres amante de las películas, la sede ofrece proyecciones constantes de clásicos y estrenos del cine cubano y latinoamericano. Estas funciones son una excelente forma de conocer la perspectiva cultural de Cuba a través de su cinematografía. Además, hay charlas y eventos que te acercan aún más a la historia del cine en la isla. ¡Nunca sabes a quién podrías conocer en una de estas proyecciones!
Otro atractivo es su pequeña pero encantadora tienda, donde puedes encontrar libros, DVDs y souvenirs relacionados con el cine. Es el lugar ideal para llevarte un pedacito de la cultura cubana a casa. Y, si tienes suerte, podrías encontrarte con algún cineasta reconocido que esté dando una charla o participando en algún evento especial.
