๐Ÿ‘‘ alonicus ๐Ÿ‘‘

All quotes in this showcase are from alonicus' works.

'Twas a misty night, and all were a slumber, when @alonicus graced us from yonder. A Scribe of skill, he was, and a Scholar of grace. Every time I close my eyes, I see his cat face. The other Invitational contestants considered giving him a bribe, but they did not consider, that he was a Scribe -

Yes? What type of Scribe was he?

Scribe of the Year babyyyy ๐Ÿ™Œ

I would like to thank @melinda010100 and the amazing team over at Ecency, for continuing to support the community. I'd also like to give a big shout-out to @stickupcurator for their amazing support of this community and the music and art on Hive! Especially through this last month of awards and love! You all rock!

As Scribe of the Year, @alonicus will receive 5 HSBI, 1000 Ecency points, and the full payout of this post - as a token of gratitude from the Scholar and Scribe family for his continuous hard work and dedication.

This dude right here, man. Sheeesh. Scary hours. Few writers on Hive have the penmanship, swagger, and grace @alonicus exudes. The guy's wiring is better than a fair few published authors I've read. He is so nonchalant with the way he presents himself, you would think he is a normie. And even if he is - he is a normie with an unnormie (yes, that's a word) writing ability. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

If there's one thing you can say about our SOTY, it is that he loves a challenge. I've heard tales that they call him the Prompt King (they say it in inner circles, mostly) since he loves to test the extent of his imagination and abilities. The year started with the Rise of the Pixels Invitational - and wouldn't you know it Al (that's what I call him) wrote an absolute banger with Revenge of the Pixels.

The children had asked where the presenter got his name from, but mother didn't know. No-one realised he was named for the very first synthetic AI-human to have been stealth released into the world all the way back in 2004; that information had been very carefully memory-holed and was not made available to human consumers.

Needless to say, Al decided to enter and win almost every Invitational we had this past year. It became so ridiculous that he started to beg the mod team to pick someone else. Not only is Al shy, but he is a humble lad as well. Ladies, please, contain yourselves, the man is taken. I think.

Not only does he crush the contests he participates in, but @alonicus hosts his own contests centered around worlbuilding over at, wait for it, c/Worldbuilding. I know, threw a curve ball at ya there. If you've ever wanted to stretch your creative muscles, then make sure to participate.

Usually, I like to highlight authors who have marked improvement throughout their stay here. But Al came as a polished gem. His writing is not only captivating but also infuriating. He has the gall to be indifferent when his writing is on a level few people attain. Let alone in our small Hive community. ๐Ÿ˜

Once, I almost got in a fight with the dude over a particularly poetic sequence. I won't get into details, but he's lucky @kemmyb was there to hold me back. ๐Ÿ’ช

Bravity is an underrated skill for an author. Using precise words to encapsulate a specific reaction in the reader. @alonicus is a master of scene setting, and bringing you into his various worlds. I bet he's so good at it, that its second nature for him, the prick. A good highlight of his range is the story The Girl on the Wall, a romance prompt from our Invitational.

He stood and followed the man to the dig site a hundred yards away. A small cluster of local archaeology students stood around waiting for Mike. He was no older than them, but they looked up to him as Professor Jackson's assistant. When he'd graduated from Oxford with honours the previous year, his tutors had said he was the most promising archaeology student they'd taught in many years.

The Secret of Doktor Von Falken is a thriller tale with an interesting setting. It is on the opposite spectrum of the romance story I just linked. Again, range people, range.

The chamber rang like a bell at the report of Randall's rifle, as he fired into the advancing monster at point-blank range. It swayed back briefly at the impact and then continued it's inexorable advance. A clattering buzz started up as the blades started to slide in and out of their sockets in short movements, the serrations moving in opposite directions to create electric carving knife.

On the other hand, The Body in Mayor Square Mystery is a mystery with a perfect trail of bread crumbs. A very satisfying read because of its pacing and tone.

When he arrived there, the whole place was cordoned off. Policemen milled around uselessly, trying to convey a sense of their own self-importance. They waved German through and he headed for the centre of the square. He recalled that once it had been occupied by a column, fountains and lions, but they'd all been cleared away as part of the Year Zero celebrations when the square was renamed and re-sculpted.

So, yes, the dude can write anything. Fine. The cherry on top? He has been an exemplary Scholar throughout the year. Always with a positive word for his fellow members. Infuriatingly humble and straightforward in his replies. He is a model citizen through and through. I am so very thankful he decided to be a part of our family. If nothing else, it lets me read and learn from one of the very best on this platform.

Thank you @alonicus! Here's to another year of story and worldbuilding! Join me in giving him a big round of applause! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

A well-deserved pick here! @alonicus is a gem; fantastic writer, kind face on chain, and surely one multi-talented fella! I liked that you shouted out the world building prompts here, I've always loved looking at his prompts to encourage my brain when I'm stuck on my writing. Although I've only ever posted for one of them, I've read dozens of them!

Cheers to you and congrats on being crowned scribe of the year Alonicus! ๐Ÿฅ‚

Thank you ! I'm so chuffed to know someone actually reads the Worldbuilding prompts. I did wonder if it was just an automated vote-bot magnet ๐Ÿ˜

What makes me most happy is that it's helped you come up with ideas, whether you've posted a direct response or not. It makes the effort of trying to create context and add questions worthwhile. Although I'm sometimes tempted to plonk the prompts into an AI for a laugh just to see how badly it can mangle the cultural context....

The Scribe of The Year is here! Congratulations, @alonicus. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Your gripping narratives and the unexpected twists that always follow make your fiction captivating! In my opinion, your mastery of worldbuilding in the dystopian and sci-fi genres is unmatched. This accolade is well deserved. You're doing great and we look forward to reading more of your stories. โœจ

Thank you ! I'm really not used to all these complements, you'll make me big-headed ๐Ÿ˜€ I'll make sure I push myself to maintain the standard, and hopefully improve, next year.

Congratulations @alonicus! You are amazing! ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ

Thank you so much - I must admit I'm actually kind of blown away by this ! There are so many talented scribes here, I thought I might get a mention but never thought I'd be honoured like this.

Also, I'm totally not used to people saying nice things about me, I spend most of my life just trogging along under the radar. It's a wonderful ego boost, and makes me wonder if I should actually try to push ahead with my dream of trying to get some work published. All the stories bouncing around in my head, it's nice to have somewhere like Hive where I can push them out into the daylight !

The only problem is, it pushes the bar higher, I'm going to have to really up my game now ๐Ÿ˜

Thank you again !

My guy, you deserve it. Humility is great, but your worth is evident to anyone who reads your work.

You should really try and publish some of this stuff. I'll offer you the same as I did Zak. If you want/need an editor, I would be happy to work with you.

Thank you ! I might just take you up on that. I've got a novella half-finished that I started last year and then walked away from in frustration because I couldn't work out how to solve the "soggy middle" problem.

But the lift you've given me with this means that once I've finished launching my business website (a project that has dragged on far longer than I thought it would, something to do with having to edit and update 10,000 products) then I'll get back onto the novella and see if my subconscious has cooked up something to fix it. Sometimes walking away from a project and then coming back fresh is just what's needed.

Congratulations! Looking forward to reading more of your work throughout the next year !BBH

Congratulations @alonicus

Without a doubt, the recognition that our colleagues have given you on this occasion is well deserved. The talent is undeniable in the stories that I have been able to read. You capture the reader in each story with a very well-structured narrative and an overflowing imagination.

Cheers to this great recognition, friend.
