It's been 65 days or so, since I started my weight loss journey or lifestyle change and although it's far from over, I can see the changes on so many levels. I'm not the type to over analyze everything and torture others with my righteousness, as I see so many around here, trying to prove they know all and are superior too, so today I'm going to just share some details about my experience so far, for myself mostly.

Timing
Yes, I'm going to start with timing as it turns out it's crucial and can influence your the results quite a lot. We're 12 days part New Year's Eve, and today I'm marking 65 days. The start of this journey was the 9th of November, a Sunday to be precise. It wasn't a Monday, the 1st of the month, it was Sunday, the day when I had enough of postponing, procrastinating and starting over endlessly, just to break the streak after a week or two, because ... because there's always a because, a reason to break the diet.
Someone told me it's a very bad period to start before Christmas, but after the holidays, I can tell you, it was the best decision. We had two festive days in which people have no limits regarding food and drinks, a huge challenge for anyone, especially if you are invited to lunch or dinner, but these so called challenges, obstacles or simply temptations will always be present, so you might as well learn to deal with them the right way and I did.
The solution for me was to determine what I am allowing myself and where I stop. A little bonus is ok, but that's it. You need to know what's more important for you, your goal or kicking everything out of the window for a few days and cancelling what you've achieved so far, and then the decision is simple.
The Journey
There are so many clichés out there about this, so you can pick one, whichever you like, but repeating clichés in an attempt to look good is not the goal here. I'd rather tell you how my journey has been so far.
Counting calories is not a fun thing to do, but I take it seriously as for me, it's the only way, but counting calories is not just that, it's more like a learning curve.
After some time you already have an idea what can you eat, how much and can make smart choices. If you want, of course. My diet doesn't exclude sweets, I can eat a very small portion of cake from time to time, but I still have to fit in my daily calorie intake and here comes the question: do I prefer a small slice of cake, which obviously is nice, but knows my sugar level up and my calories as well, or choose some veggies, along with some good quality meat, which is kind of necessary? After two months I definitely choose the latter and know why as well.
The other day I was thinking what I would do if I reach my goal. We all know so many are back to their old lifestyle, celebrating their success and slowly (but surely) putting it all back up. That's definitely not what I want, so I need a plan after I reach my goal and I think I have one.
The Plan
Yes, plan after plan, even if it looks or sounds strange, that's how life is and if you don't have one, you can face the consequences of some bad choices.
After I reach my gold, I'm planning to still count calories and monitor my weight, to see how my body is going to react to a slightly higher calorie intake and how much I need to keep that certain level. But the focus will be on healthier food.
Some say healthy food is expensive, but I can assure you, you pay way more for unhealthy junk food. Having an idea about how much calories, carbs, fat and protein a dish has can help you make a good selection to last for a week or two and rotate them, to avoid getting bored of eating the same dishes. It means work, but you're doing it for yourself, so worth investing in it.
Conclusion
It is my firm conviction that you can learn a lot during such a journey, you can change your life as well, if you take it seriously and don't look at it as a simple weight loss journey. It's a way of life, a new way of life with a lot of benefits. It's a mind game, as I mentioned in one of my posts and the sooner you realize that, the better for you. Otherwise it's a few months of giving up on eating certain dishes, then going back to the same lifestyle and getting back to square one. Simple as that.
