I recently told you that my children were taking their first steps in the world of chess. First, their father taught them, and now my husband also guides them; but neither of them are masters or professional players.
So I told them that if they want to be good, they have to study, and there's no better way to do it than at an academy that has produced several of the province's top chess players.
The José Raúl Capablanca Chess Academy.
Life has its inexplicable things. One of them was my children's unexpected passion for chess. The other, related to this topic, is that I found this chess academy a week ago, almost by chance.
In my 17 years living in this city, until a week ago, I had never seen it, and I've walked past the room countless times almost every week.
At the time of taking this photo, only two tables were occupied, as you can see.
I was surprised by the silence in the room. It seemed they hadn't even noticed my presence with the camera. Maybe they had, maybe not. What's worth mentioning is that their concentration on the game seemed unwavering.
Normally, this room is full of children receiving lectures and classes. Other times, I've seen them playing among themselves, with the teacher always standing behind them, watching games, giving advice.
That's why I suggested to my children that we start teaching on weekends. Of course, they're thrilled.
The good and bad thing about them is their competitiveness. They always want to be the best at everything they do, and that, to a certain extent, is very good.

The academy is named José Raúl Capablanca, in honor of the man known as the Mozart of chess. I knew this fact because I'm a musician and concert guitarist, and it was quite unusual to see that nickname for an athlete.
All the more reason for my children to study at this academy and practice this sport.
I'm very excited, and so are they. They're starting this coming Saturday. I'll keep you posted on everything.
By the way, the homemade tournament from the previous post was won by my youngest son, Diego 😃.

Recientemente le comenté que mis hijos estaban dando sus primeros pasos en el mundo del ajedrez. Primero les estuvo enseñando su papá y ahora mi esposo también lo guía; pero ninguno de los dos son maestros ni jucadores profesionales.
Por lo que les dije que si quieren ser buenos tienen que estudiar y nada mejor hacerlo en una academia de donde han salido varios de los principales trevejistas de la provincia.
La Academia de Ajedrez José Raúl Capablanca.
La vida tiene sus cosas inexplicables. Una de ellas fue la pasión inesperada de mis hijos hacia el ajedrez. La otra relacionada con este tema es que haya encontrado, hace una semana y casi por casualidad, esta academia de ajedrez.
En mis 17 años viviendo en esta ciudad, hasta hace una semana, jamás la había visto, y he pasado por frente de a la sala, innumerables veces casi todas las semanas.
En el momento de tomar esa foto solo habían dos mesas ocupadas, como pueden ver.
Me sorprendió el silencio en la habitación. Parecía siquiera habían notado mi presencia con la cámara. Quizás sí, quizás no. Lo digno de mencionar es que su concentración en el juego parecía inquebrantable.
Normalmente esta sala se encuentra llena de niños recibiendo las conferencias y las clases. Otras veces los he visto jugando entre ellos mismos con el maestro siempre tras ellos observando juegos dando consejos.
De ahí a que les propusiera la idea a mis hijos de comenzar a dar clases en los turnos de los fines de semana. Por supuesto que ellos están encantados.
Lo bueno y lo malo que tienen, es su competitividad. Siempre quieren ser los mejores en todo lo que hacen y eso, hasta cierto punto, es muy bueno.

La academia se llama José Raúl Capablanca, en honor a quien fuera conocido como el Mozart del ajedrez. Este dato lo conocía debido a que soy músico, guitarrista concertista y era algo bastante inusual ver ese apodo en un deportista.
Razón de más para que mis hijos estudien en esta academia y practiquen este deporte.
Estoy muy animada y ellos también. Este próximo sábado comienzan. Los mantendré al tanto de todo.
Por cierto, el torneo casero del post anterior, lo ganó mi hijo menor, Diego 😃.
