CALABASH SAGE - A STURDY HEALER AND A CHEAP ONE

in Cent16 hours ago

Greetings Fellow Splinterlands Summoners

Since the Conclave Arcana edition is released, the in-game summoners become Arcane and we all here the players are called as the Splinterlands Summoners. It's kind of new thing for me, and some miscommunication happened with my in-game friends here, but I am kind of like it and adjusting to get use with this vocab.

Ok back to in-game topic, how's your new journey with the Conclave Arcana edition? Do you love it, or you want to love it but you haven't loved it? Lol people who are new to this game might be confused what I have been saying, but old players should understand what I mean.

We want more cards, but as a nature in Play to Earn environment, part of us want to make more by spending less. This cause us, most of the players, hesitate to spend big in any blockchain game, including Splinterlands.

As I have said in some of my posts, a competitive deck could cost you more than $1000, every year. However I am a casual player, so I will seek the most value friendly approach, which is renting cards. However I will be honest here, I will buy some cards if the price is very reasonable.

So let's start today by showing you guys the first Conclave Arcana card that I bought at my will on my desired level

Calabash Sage. That's not the first Conclave Arcana I have got, nor the first one I have bought. But He is the first Conclave Arcana that I bought multiple copies to get him into level 5, which I believe that's the minimum level I need to have him working suitable for the meta I want.

I have spent $4.74 for a level 5 Calabash Sage and to be specific, I need him to have his Tank Heal ability which he has after he reaches level 5. I believe this is a steal, because usually the market favors units with healing ability a lot. You can check Rebellion cards who have tank heal, their price are ridiculous. So less than $5 for this card with healing ability, I believe that is what I should call as very reasonable price. but always NFA, don't blame me if it drops in future, or spikes up.

Basically Calabash Sage is a subtitute for Meriput Magician. Everything almost similar, except on their attack type. Meriput is a mage, and Calabash is a range attacker. Their Mana is different too, Calabash is even, Meriput is odd. So you need to get both, because they are meant for different rulesets.

The thing I like with Calabash is his 4 range damage. It means he won't make his team losing momentum in by giving pitiful attack damage. his attacks are heavy, and delivering real damages.

So let me share you now the first win I got in using Calabash Sage

HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE

~Click The Image Above To See the Full Battle~

This is the battle I have talked above, a battle in gold league modern ranked. Honestly this battle was a funny one, because I came with a weird line up just to troll my opponent. Take a look at these three stooges

That time I was thinking like... "Hey I can deliver 3 tank healer, let's do this. I want to make my opponent falls in despair unable to kill my tank". It was a stupid move that could cost me a silly lose, however it was not. My opponent really came with I thought he might be, a straight forward hitting meta.

Anyway these three show us that Calabash Sage could cover up the damage per round. Meriput Magician and Anash Soothsayer have only 1 magic damage, which is a typical for support units which is low attack power and could make your team lose momentum if you put too many low hitter.

Let's see how this battle goes

image.png

  • The battle starts with both side buffing their team and debuffing their opponent. It looks like both of us are still developing our deck, none comes with high level or gold league level cap above.
  • They come with 4 melee damage, 1 range damage and 7 magic damage. Combined all they become 12 damage per round.
  • My team comes with 4 melee damage, 3 range damage and 5 magic damage, combined all it becomes 13 damage per round.
  • Actually we come with a bit similar concept, their line up is defensive with some debuff and repair ability. Mine is defensive with using triple tank heal units.

  • First round was a boring one. that's bound to happen regarding both of us using defensive meta. However things started to change this round, we manage to kill their main tank.

  • Without Grimbardun Figher, my team are starting to build up the gap. Commander Slade and Calabash Sage hit harder, due to no shield ability to counter physical attacks.

  • Both of us lost a unit in round 3. My Thunderous Herald got killed by an opportunity attacks. Herald was one of the new units I thought as superior, but as I played that cards several times, due to the lack of proper health point, sometime it became waste like in this battle.

  • round 4 ran as usual, my team led the pace and kept the momentum. So at this round 5, it started to show that they were losing badly.

  • Round 6 started with 2 vs 5 condition, my team had secured the win at this point.

  • Round 7 was the last, good game

This is typical battle in modern rank right now, many casual players like us here playing with low level cards not because we have no intention to level them up, but more like we are still gauging our strength, looking for the most value spending position.

This is not something that is on a level of an amazing battle or superb one, but it is the first win of my newly purchased, Calabash Sage. In this battle you can see his 4 range damage offered another DPS capability, which made my opponent lost badly.

So what do you think, Calabash Sage is a good one of maybe some flop? feel free to leave your comments and feedbacks below.
