You know, it’s always beautiful to see people that wants other people to grow positively. The Newbies Initiative team has selflessly taken it upon themselves to train and educated people about the blockchain. I’m genuinely thankful to all those that made sure it’s a success, we do not take it for granted. Now that we have come to the end of the program, I want to say a big thank you to the entire team of the @newbies-hive
I have been reflecting on my hive goals since the year started and some even got me really excited. I had never intentionally set hive goals for myself, until I became a part of the newbies initiative. This is one of the best things that happened to me last year, for real. From the very first meeting, we were told to set some SMART goals and I wrote a post stating my goals for the following three months on the blockchain (oct - dec,2023)
I was able to set three SPECIFIC, MEASURABLE, ATTAINABLE, RELEVANT, TIME-BOUND goals. They were
• Reaching 500HP (I had 283.113 at the time).
• Engaging on at least 10 posts in a day.
• Having up to 100 followers (I had 39 at the time)
So, did I eventually hit these goals?
To an extent, yes I did😌. My number one goal of reaching 500HP was achieved and I was super excited about it, I wrote a post. I was able to have 503.028HP before the end of 2023. I was able to hit my goal because I became more active on the blockchain. I was committed to reaching my goals and I had to work hard for it. I engaged with other authors and took my account serious. Also, I jumped on a challenge of writing for 7 straight day with quality engagements in at least 10 posts in a day. It was @starstrings01 that challenged me and he rewarded me by delegating 2000HP to me, which helped my HP growth massively. That was how I was able to achieve the first goal I set.
For the second goal of engaging on at least 10 post everyday, I was not able to stay fully committed to that. Although, I took engagement more serious than I had ever done in the past. Also, the challenge I embarked on helped me do that for a while.
For my third goal, I was able to hit 70 followers out of 100 that I set for myself. Honestly, I still consider it a win because I moved from having 39 followers to having 70. I was able to reach that number of followers through quality engagements. I was active in communities and went through the posts thoroughly and also dropped meaningful comments on them. It probably drew my fellow authors to check my profile out and decide I was worth following.
It was a really beautiful journey and I learned a whole lot. There were things that used to confuse me but being a part of the initiative shed more light to those things. Also, I was able to understand the blockchain to a reasonable extent and was able to bring a friend of mine on board. My explanation and description of the system intrigued him so much and he has been doing well on the blockchain so far.
I was also able to connect with more people and got a bit familiar with them. Although, I was not able to know some people well due to my unavailability at times, I still know them and I’m always very glad to engage in their contents.
The initiative is already doing greatly and has amazing arrangements in place. If I were to contribute a thing to make the initiative even better than it has been, it would be to suggest that there should be an automatic partner matching and follow ups on inactive members. Sometimes, it can be very hard to know who already has a partner and who doesn’t and I also noticed some people were inactive almost throughout the whole time. Although, I am not sure if there are reasons for that and if they reached out to the newbies initiative team.
