I have had a lot of experiences with cars and road trips and I don't even know the one to tag as 'craziest', since they are different types of experiences. I have never been in an accident, but I have been close sometimes. I have been a driver before but I am always the passenger most of the time. The first time I drove a car was when my dad and I went to his farm and thought me some few things about driving. It was a remote place because it was a local environment, so I didn't really feel scared of hitting any vehicle.
I was very thrilled, scared and happy, all at the same time because I was behind a wheel. I drove for few minutes after he taught me the basics, and when we got to the main road, he took over. Of course, I made some mistakes and that was like a fun experience as well. That was the also the last time I attempted driving because my dad is always very occupied and I haven’t had the chance to learn again. I still hope to do that sometime soon though.
I think this can pass as my craziest experience;
I went for my aunty’s wedding in another state that fateful year. After we concluded the engagement ceremony, we wanted to head to the reception where the main event was taking place. There were so many people and limited cars to convey them all to the venue. The closer relatives had to chill for other people to get to the venue and then wait for the cars to come back again.
So, our turn came and we entered this particular car, my mom was there as well, together with some of my other family members. As we proceeded to the reception, we were smelling something weird from the car. At first, we thought we were wrong or maybe we just passed by somewhere that gave that particular smell. Lo and behold my people, we started seeing smoke coming from the front of the car(the engine house).
The driver parked immediately and we all got down in fear. We couldn’t hold in our surprise when we opened the bonnet and saw fire gushing out from the engines, there was a lot of smoke and it was so hot. Honestly, it was very scary and when some people passed and told us what usually happens when a situation like that occurs, we were more grateful for life.
They told us that when the engine gets heated to that extent, the doors automatically locks and one might find it very hard to get out and might choke on eventually. I don’t even know how true that is but then, as God would have it, we all got out safely and that is something to be really grateful for.
We got to the venue through another means, because they had to call someone to work on the car. When our other family members heard when we got back the venue, they were so thankful. If anything had happened, the wedding would have turned to another thing entirely.
