I haven't done one of these in a few years because most of us have been picking up the pieces that the last bear market left. However I think the tides are turning and for the first time in quite a while, every time I check hive-engine all the tokens are green, which is nice.
I'm quite excited for this bull market. For starters more than a few projects made it through the wasteland that was last years bear.
I've never seen Bitcoin dip before the previous all time high, but we did it, we managed to plunge below $19,000 all the way to $15,000.
Not that I was worried of course, I mean there's enough degens in the world that would get an erection at the mere sight of that price of Bitcoin and buy as much as they can -- so I think whoever bought at that price is going to be sitting real happy right about now.
That being said there's been a lot of us working hard to build out something on hive. Leo with their front end system, us with all our projects that we have going, PIMP are looking into metals, SSUK with his income tokens, and Acidyo with his game -- there are many more! This was just a random list and not preference.
One thing that's quite unique about hive is that we all need Hive to exist. I was talking to @bozz earlier and I was telling him that on average we spend about 1000 Hive weekly on merely existing. If we were to break even, not make a profit, and just "exist" then we'd need to be earning around an average of 1000 Hive per week.
If we don't have it, we have to buy it off the market.
We are a relatively small project in the grand scheme of things. Imagine the operational costs of splinterlands or 3speak, how much hive they burn through daily, never mind weekly -- it's probably a crazy amount. That's why I'm so positive about hive.
You have to buy hive and power it up to run something here. You can't just run a big project and not have any hive.. unless you don't want to base it on hive of course.
And don't forget we're young, very young. 4 years is a drop in the water in cryptocurrency terms. Bitcoin is nearly 16 years old. So as more projects come here and set up shop then they will need more hive to exist. We'll just keep growing and there will eventually be a tipping point where everyone wants to try out hive because they see their friends earning crazy amounts.
But we're way off that for now. For now we build, and build I am happy to do, and earn in the process. This is definitely a long term vision, and one where I see us all doing very well if we just at least stick at it.
So on hive, and long term hive projects I'm very positive!
