Buckle up Hive Drone fam! Because while my batteries are charged, my flight hours are still on standby thanks to this lovely mix of freezing winds, early sunsets, and the eternal struggle of "I have time, but the weather hates me." But! March 1st is right around the corner, and with it, we inch closer to better flying conditions.
So, while I wait for the perfect day to send my drone back into the sky like a majestic technological eagle, let’s rewind to March 1st, 2021, a time when the sun was real, the wind was chill but manageable, and my DJI Air 2S actually got to stretch its propellers over the well-known canal and surrounding fields.
The Mission: Aerial Zen Over the Canal
Back in 2021, the stars aligned, no rain, no storms, and no surprise wind gusts trying to hijack my drone. Just an open sky and a perfect chance to capture some sweet aerial goodness. I hit up the usual spot: the canal and its surrounding fields, a location that never disappoints.
Shot Breakdown: A Love Letter to Good Light and Better Views
📸 First up, the sunset reflection shot, because what kind of drone photographer would I be if I didn’t throw in some golden-hour magic? The canal is basically a giant mirror here, making everything look like nature’s version of an Instagram filter. And, your drone can't just go high up in the sky, it can also stay low and reach places you can't go!
📸 The straight-down farm grid shot, for the geometry lovers out there. Fields, trees, and dirt roads creating a pattern so satisfying it almost makes up for the fact that my hands were freezing while flying.
📸 Low-angle road shot, because sometimes, you gotta pretend your drone is a tiny car driving into the sunset.
📸 The ultimate perspective shot, flying up high to show the town, the canal, and the endless horizon. The kind of shot that makes you realize, “Yeah, flying cameras are the future, and we are living in it.”
The Present: Still Waiting for Spring, But We’re Getting There
Good news! The weather is improving, slowly but surely. We even had sunlight today! (A rare sight, like a unicorn or a social media platform with zero drama.) Sure, the wind still feels like it has a personal vendetta against my fingers, but hey, baby steps.
And the best part? Longer days! Sunset is creeping closer to 6 PM, and soon, we’ll have those glorious golden-hour flights again without racing against time.
So, fellow drone addicts, hold tight. We’re almost back in the air. In the meantime, enjoy this throwback to better days and get ready, because drone season is about to take off! 🚀
