Hello hello~~ it is a new week and a very short work week for me I hope XD This mining season has my sanity hanging by a thread and honestly, I'm quite happy we have so many long weekends this year, else IDK how I would cope with the environment at work now, the staff that's basically alienating me and especially the overwork ;;-;; I really hope one of my applications I sent replies. I need a change of work and environment.
Anyways, I have tried drawing more as a coping mechanism and my man has been drawing more with me because he knows how much drawing with him eases my grievances in life and for that, I feel like I've been doing better art. Or at least I hope. For this week, I went with the tortisian fighter and the turtles were a new addition to my to draw list since I worked on the angry nomming glimo XD and I'm still sort of building a portfolio on ti's style of drawing because I really feel like I would have no problem commissioning this kind of style

So I ended up doing the B&W first then I added a green overlay and I recently learned, thanks to my volture, that even with the overlay, you still need to retouch the highlights and details a little so I feel like I will do more and more B&W stuff and just do like wild overlays XD and maybe list those as NFTs? whatchu guys think? XD
Kidding aside, I's a really nice discovery for me since I really like this app XD and having more uses for it just really boosts my motivation to use it more XD
So going to my progression:
This is my original sketch then the sketch I did while I was cleaning it up and making better outlines for it. I do like how well I cleaned up the sketch and I have my perfectionist brain to thank for that XD
Then my gray shading, which usually gives me a better idea of how I want my drawing to go.
Then a darker gray to emphasize depth. If you ntice, I don't go full black now because I am trying to ease up on the contrast a little. Like.. contrast is good but if you make it too sharp, it's not so good on the eyes anymore. And it also helps with the overlay so I may ease up on the black in the next few weeks, who knows. But mermay is coming up and I'm hoping I can finish my prompt list. If not, well, at least I'm writing more this year, just like on my revised goal for the year.
After all my detail ups, I added a bit of a background, then finally my overlay
I didn't plan to go too strong for now, like I did with the vulture, but it's still pretty nice. It has that slight watercolor feels to it.
And that's all from me. I really hope they don't make me work on a holiday cuz I really want to enjoy my 4 day long weekend this week. And I need to continue applying elsewhere since I've been getting soo many rejection letters from my overseas application. And I really want to get out of here soon ;;-;;
