That day, the sky had begun to dim, indicating that afternoon would soon turn into night. I walked slowly around the garden, enjoying the calm and cool atmosphere. As my footsteps followed a path filled with withering leaves, my eyes fell on something moving on a piece of rotting wood.
It turned out to be a snail from the genus Lissachatina, walking slowly across the surface of the rotting wood. Its large and distinctively patterned shell shows how sturdy this animal is even though it lives in an often harsh environment. There were slight cracks in its shell, perhaps scars from its long and challenging life journey.
I stopped for a moment, mesmerized by the beauty and serenity of this snail. In the descending darkness, I grabbed my camera and began to capture this moment. The remaining light from dusk gives the photo a dramatic effect, highlighting the texture of the weathered wood and the shiny shell of the snail. This snail looked so peaceful, as if nothing could disturb its slow journey.
This moment reminded me that natural beauty is often hidden behind the simple and unexpected. This snail, although slow and often overlooked, carries a story of strength and endurance with every movement. And I feel lucky to be able to witness and capture one of these rarely seen natural stories.
I hope this photo can provide inspiration for our community of nature observers, that every corner of nature holds stories waiting to be discovered, even in the darkness that is starting to envelop.
