This year is going to be fun filled with a lot of vacations. I have already started traveling a lot this year and I think I might share my travel experiences in the form of articles. I used to be a daily writer. I had this one rule where I read something every day and write something every day. I recently decided to break that rule. I don't want to have any hard rules in my life. It is okay to not follow a routine on certain days. This is what I have thought for myself. I think it is also working out very well.
I'm also expecting many such days where I might not be able to read or write when I'm usually traveling. I'm doing some travels now and then where I stopped carrying my laptops. If it is for multiple days, I do carry my laptops but if it is only for a day or two, I don't usually carry my laptops. Earlier I used to carry it with me worrying if any of my services go down or for writing articles every day. But nowadays I'm not worrying too much about these things. I get back to them when I'm back from my vacation.
Gangai Konda Cholapuram
I was visiting Gangai Konda Cholapuram in the last few days. The place is well known for its architectural wonder. This temple was built by King Rajendra Chola after getting inspirations from his father King Raja Raja Chola. These kings had a big desire to build temples for the lord. This temple especially was built as a replica of the Tajore big temple which also looked similar in structure. Today it is not possible to create a replica of these structures as the technology used by them to bind the stones doesn't even exist.
I visit this temple multiple times a year for some events and temple festivals. This is a place close to my heart. It has been 1000 years since this temple was built. I somehow feel a part of this temple.
Drawing competition
We visited this temple a few days back not just for worship but to conduct an event at one of the under privileged school in the locality. We conducted a drawing competition and distributed prizes to the winners. It was fun watching them share their artistic skills and it was a good opportunity for us to bring their skills out. They are being taught very well and there is a drawing master in the school who is giving them the right directions. Sometimes a good teacher is very important to bring our talents out. Even if we have good talents, it won't show up until there is someone who can take it out of us.
Overall it was a fun-filled day spending time with small kids from 1st grade to 5th grade. We asked the 5th grade students to draw the temple itself and it was very good. The above image shows how they drew the architecture of the temple. We distributed some snacks, drawing materials, and some books to everyone who participated. Everyone who participated also got a participation certificate.
