How are you, bro?
Dubai. December 22, 2023.
I have already started my story about a trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai on Christmas Eve. Today I want to show the Oriental Souk in Dubai.
I've been to similar bazaars in Barcelona and Rome. But this market is completely different from the European markets.
The guide warned us about the peculiarities of behavior in this place. She said that sellers can be very annoying in their product offers, and dishonest sellers will try to get money out of us in different situations. But in fact, I did not meet anything like this from the sellers.
I want to say that I have plunged into an oriental fairy tale.
This large bazaar building is surrounded by water, and a system of canals. Look, friends, you can see a tall building in the distance. This is one of the most famous luxury hotels in Dubai - Burj Al Arab Jumeirah. This hotel is often known as the Sail. This hotel is a symbol of Dubai, its luxury, and dizzying success. This is the most respectable, most expensive, and most prestigious hotel in the emirate. A private area with restaurants, a bar at an altitude of 200 meters, swimming pools, spas, and a separate island on which all this is located.
But let's return to the purpose of our story - Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
So we were inside the building. We didn't enter from the main entrance. The guide specially guided us in such ways that we found ourselves on the sparsely populated "streets" of the bazaar. Our goal was not shopping, but just to look at the beauty of this place. And the guide also told us all to stick together and keep up with her, because you can get lost in this place.
Friends, do you remember the fairy tale about Aladdin and the genie from the magic lamp? Here they are, these lamps on the counter. There's probably a genie in each of these lamps. I have seen many interesting things like this in this bazaar. I like to watch and even buy such souvenirs and small items. And I passed by these counters with a sigh. And there was another reason - my limited budget. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are expensive cities.
Sometimes, to see the beauty of a room, you need to lift your head up and see what I saw. I have never seen such beautiful bazaars. Usually, bazaars are some kind of nondescript ugly buildings with sloppy interior decorations with typical counters. This building is a special tourist location. There are many tourist groups like ours here.
The guide led us to the main place - to the exit, where a guy stood and gave us ice cream made from camel milk. It's very tasty! And the guy spoke a lot of phrases in Russian. He was interested in our affairs in Russian and said that "one ball cost 20 dirhams, and 2 balls cost 25 dirhams". Of course, we took 2 ice cream balls each, and for that, he gave us chocolate candy as a gift.
"Dear guests, dear group, I will ask everyone to get on the bus, we need to go to the zoo, I ask everyone to hurry up and take seats on the bus." It was the guide who hurried us so much, the program of our stay in Dubai was very intense.
I took all the photos on iPhone XP.
Friends, are you ready to continue my Abu Dhabi tour of Dubai with me?
