I was viewing a friend's status on WhatsApp when I saw her post today, which says "Today is the 89th day of January. Thank God it's finally coming to an end," and then I smiled.
January has been known for its sluggishness and pennilessness, maybe because a lot has been spent during the festive period, so everyone looks forward to earning as soon as possible to get things going.
The worst periods for me in January were the first two weeks; it was not a nice experience at all.
The first two weeks for me were without sales from my fashion business, which made me very tired. Everybody seemed to be looking for what to eat and not fashion-inclined again since Christmas and New Year were over.
I had to pinch from the little money I had saved during the December period, and thankfully, I could make do with the little I had while I began looking for contract jobs online since I had other skills like video animation, graphic design, make-up artistry, and other beautiful skills.
I got an online job contract after so many contract hunts, but sadly, I lost the opportunity because the next day my beloved laptop got spoilt. It was like my village people were monitoring me during this period, and I felt like crying.
The job required I made use of a personal computer for it. I made plans to fix it, but I was unable to fix it ASAP as many engineers who fix laptops weren't available, their offices were still locked, and it was annoying for me. I contacted a friend whom I knew to be a tech guru, but sadly, he too wasn't around as he travelled to be with his family.
I kept praying things would fall into place as I channelled my energy into something else. I began to watch YouTube videos to help me perfect my fashion skills, as I believe one never stops learning until one dies.
This distracted me for the worst two weeks in January, and more than that, I used the opportunity to make some pending outfits for myself. It wasn't a nice experience at all, but then a miracle happened just after the worst experience.
As usual, I went about my Hive routines when I came across a notification that showed someone sent me some HBD as a giveaway prize for a Twitter space I attended in December. Honestly, I had forgotten about the space, but I believe God can bring it to me through that medium. The Hive gift came just when I needed it, and it made me feel a lot better.
I withdrew some of it to care for some necessary things at home while I hoped my customer would start trooping in gradually as January is almost over now. There are so many occasions to attend now, and so they will need me to style them.
As for my laptop, I haven't been able to fix it yet because my engineer isn't still available, and I fear giving it out to a random engineer.
I'm hoping I'll fix it this week because he told me he would be around next week.
I want to believe February will be very positive for me, and I will recover whatever I've lost or spent in January.
