Joe has been rearing birds for the past five years. His poultry farm is the largest within his vicinity. People come from far and wide to buy his products. He is always in stock. Whenever you call on him, you'll always get the poultry products you need.
However, a certain ailment struck his farm early this year. Most of his birds, especially those laying eggs were affected. They died in droves. Joe was devastated. In a bid not to lose out completely Joe started selling off his birds. He was almost closing shop.
Patronage also dipped as most people became afraid to buy even crates of eggs. There was widespread rumours that once you eat the affected birds the ailment may translate to humans.
Joe decided to probe into the root cause of the strange disease in his farm. This quest for knowledge unravelled a lot of things in the process. Joe with the help of a specialist discovered that the disease started from the water the birds were fed. The water was not well treated with the required dosage of drugs.
At first Joe wanted to sack the man mixing the drugs for the birds but had a rethink. He further discovered that the drugs were no longer effective for combating flu and other related. He realised that the best solution is to change their drugs and watch the birds for few days before making any final decision.
