Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for wednesday, the 12th day of June, 2024. Work begins today nationwide after a day's holiday declared by the federal government to mark the democracy day. Larry as usual is busy doing what he makes best, which is parcel deliveries.
Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.
Larry begins his look at today in history from the Korean peninsula. He finds out that on this day in 2000, South Korean President Kim Dae-Jung met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in the first summit between the two countries, which helped earn Kim Dae-Jung the Nobel Peace Prize.
From the Korean peninsula, Larry goes to the USA. He finds out that on this day in 2023, Donald Trump became the first former US president to be charged with federal crimes when he was arraigned in a Miami courthouse. He pleaded not guilty to 37 felony charges stemming from his alleged mishandling of secret documents. from 1981 to 1989 and 41st President of the United States from 1989 to 1993, was born in Milton, Massachusetts, U.SA.
From the USA, Larry goes to the world of music and entertainment. He finds out that on this day in 2005, after a 14-week trial that turned into a media circus, American pop superstar Michael Jackson was cleared of child molestation accusations.
From the world of music and entertainment, Larry goes to thr Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He finds out that on this day in 1982, Fahd became king of Saudi Arabia after his half-brother Khalid passed away, presiding over a phase of the nation's modernization.
From Saudi Arabia, Larry goes to Finland. He finds out that on this day in 1897, Paavo Nurmi, a Finnish track athlete who dominated long-distance running in the 1920s and won nine gold medals at three Olympic Games (1920, 1924, 1928), was born.
Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from South Korea. He finds out that on this day in 1944, Ban Ki-Moon is a South Korean diplomat and politician who served as the United Nations' eighth secretary-general from 2007 to 2016.
Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
