DIY:How To Make Scissors Cover from Fabric Scraps

in DIYHub11 months ago

Hello everyone,I hope you’re enjoying the new year.Today I am sharing with you all a simple and easy way to make fabric scissors cover from fabric scraps.

Most people leave their scissors anywhere either at home or where they work(sew). Since it is a sharp object, you can easily be harmed without even realizing and if not you, then it could happen to your kids or clients that come to your shop or sewing environment. Also, apart from protecting yourself, you’re helping to protect the environment by reducing waste.

The materials I used were:

  • fabric scrap
  • a pair of scissors
  • measuring tape
  • a piece of chalk
  • glue gun

Step 1
I started by measuring and cutting a 7 by 7 inches square from the fabric scraps with the piece of chalk.

Step 1.1
Since I wanted to make the cover thick I made another square cut from the fabric

Step 2
I put the two square pieces together and ironed them so the heat sticks them and also get the outline out very well

Step 3
I divided the square into 4 equal parts and marked it with the piece of chalk.

Step3.1
I then ruled a line to join the upper marked part to the bottom right vertex.

Step 4
I now folded the left part onto the line and ironed it,and did same for the remaining right side.

Step 5
I now heated the glue gun to glue the folded parts together as well as the excess triangular part.

I finished and packed all the scissors into the cover.

I enjoyed doing this and I hope you like it.Let me know of any other covers you know of.
Thank you for passing by.

That's a really smart thing to do. A protective cover would be useful against harm.

Scissor covers are such an underrated item, and absolutely vital for all of us who work with scissors! God knows how many scissors I've lost by not taking good care of them and I feel bad about that :( thanks for bringing this very nice tutorial, of a topic that I need to be reminded of every so often! 👏 👏 👏

Just what I needed 😁. I'll try this out.

Alright.
