The Ultimate Weekend Escape.

I have never really thought about what an ideal weekend would look like for me. However, taking a well deserved break, away from the relentless grind of life does seem like an interesting idea.

As a person who juggles a lot of duties and responsibilities, ranging from academics to entrepreneurship, my ideal weekend would be a sanctuary of balance and recuperation. A moment with no alarms reminding me of unfinished tasks, no deadlines but just intentional moments of rest.

The weekend would kick off on a Friday, possibly after a hectic day. I like to take long strolls and also admire nature because there's a calm that comes with these activities. I would transport myself to a place with beautiful sights to behold; flowers, water bodies, trees, landscapes and every other thing you can think of. A resort or a beach can aid my Friday evening relaxation and by extension help me shed all of the week’s weight.

Saturday would dawn naturally with no blaring alarm waking me up. Still at the resort, I would allow myself to wake up when my body chooses to wake and hopefully I do so feeling refreshed. While sitting on a patio, a light breakfast of properly curated foods and fruits will be served and I’d have breakfast unhurriedly. After breakfast, I would proceed to listen to an ebook while admiring my surroundings.

Next, I would talk a way around the vicinity in a bid to see and appreciate the things I may have missed the previous evening. If the resort has tourist attractions like the zoo, horse riding, nature walks, and springs, I would happily explore all of them.

After the exploration, light lunch at a local market may follow. I would sample light chops like puff-puff or spring rolls while chatting with the vendors about random things. You’d be surprised how exceptionally brilliant and entertaining some vendors can be.

Even though I am recuperating during this weekend, I would still take out some time to make at least a crochet piece under a shady spot because crocheting on its own is a form of therapy. Afterwards, this crochet item would be given out as a gift to someone who appreciates it.

After spending so much time out in the sun, I’d return to my room, freshen up and then take out some time to keep myself updated on the things happening around the world through social media and shortly after, dinner would be served.

If there's one thing I like doing, it would be trying out new dishes so you bet I won't be ordering a dish that I eat regularly. Instead, It would either be a dish that would make my taste buds dance for joy or make me wonder why I wasted my money. The lighter the meal, the better.

After dinner, I would sit on that patio once again while I wind down for the day. Three hours later, I’d be turning in for the day.

The next day being Sunday would be a calmer day. No hikes nor exploration, just me lollygaging the whole morning. I would take a light brunch because naturally, I do not fancy eating early, especially on Sundays. The rest of the morning would be spent reflecting on gratitude for health, life, love, family and every other thing in-between.

By afternoon, I should begin a movie marathon. Hopefully I find a collection of interesting single movies or a thrilling series to pass the time. Binge watching movies always puts me to sleep so a nap would follow.

In the evening, I would explore the menu once again, pick out a comforting meal and afterwards, prepare to return home the next morning. After spending the weekend relaxing and moving at a more natural pace, I would feel relaxed and ready to face the rest of the week.

In the end, I believe my ideal weekend wouldn’t be a lavish but deeply personal opportunity to rest, recuperate and reset.
