Women's Day is a special holiday meant for celebrating all women and girls. But on this day, I want to give extra thanks to mothers most of all. Whether mothers gave birth to children in the natural way or are spiritual mothers guiding the next generation, they deserve so much praise. Mothers represent selfless love that most of us experience right from the very start.
From the moment a mother first gets pregnant, her body starts an amazing biological change to nurture new life growing inside her. Every bite of food she eats first gets filtered to protect and nourish that tiny baby she is carrying. Her heart literally beats for two people as it works overtime pumping blood to her child too. Aches, throwing up, and body pains get seen as little problems compared to the joy of feeling a first kick or hearing a tiny heartbeat. The biggest sacrifice happens across those 9 incredible months.
Once born into this world, babies remain totally connected in body and emotions to their mothers through an unbreakable bond like nothing else. A newborn baby knows only their mother's voice, touch, and the food from her giving comfort. The constant need to feel safely attached and loved gets hardwired into our brains from those earliest childhood experiences thanks to a mother's love. Just by being present and patient with us in those needy infant stages literally shapes our inner lives going forward.
We mothers make a promise to God to nurture human souls. Whether rocking feverish little bodies through long nights, teaching tough lessons about consequences, or cupping our dreamers' faces whispering belief in their future – we pour out constant heart energy hoping to raise whole human beings for the world. Our stretch marks, gray hairs at the temples, and callused feet stand as proof of how far that journey alongside every child goes.
I remember when my first son Jamiel was only six months old and he fell very sick. I can still see his tiny body burning with fever as I held him against my chest night after night after night. My eyes were burning from exhaustion and my body ached from lack of sleep. But watching over my sweet boy and keeping him hydrated was my entire world until he recovered. That tender nurturing felt coded into my DNA.
With my daughter joella, she recently had a bad case of rashes , which I had to go up and down looking for solutions to help clear her skin and make her feel better, though after much medication, it is now better and that was only possible because as a mother I never gave up on her and I always made sure she had clean clothes at all time to help her. With the issue of the heat here in my country I had to stay up most of the night to fan her with some hand fans , so she wouldn't feel so hot at night and attract more rashes to her body.
That is just a tiny glimpse into the never-ending sacrifices and nurturing required from mothers if we want our children to becomeSecure, ethical, intelligent leaders for the coming generation. We happily take on these responsibilities because home is simply just a second birthplace for souls on loan from Heaven. Our immense duty involves shaping beautiful vessels ready to be ricocheted into the world with guidance from godly mothers.
This lifetime job description , nighttime snuggles, constant encouragement, open ears and arms to absolve inevitable mistakes, stamina through midnight fretting, spirit nurturing through presence and affirmation – stays incredibly demanding at all hours. But a mother's purpose emerges humbled and grateful to steward such sacred trust alongside her children's growth.
So when Women's Day arrives fresh each year celebrating our honored place in society, I count motherhood as the highest calling to which we aspire. Our stretch marks read like prayer beads recording sacred rites of passage to escort precious human souls along the way to full spiritual formation. Our graying hair stands coronated in glory from the long nights bearing eternal impact. And our calluses become badges of endurance, presence, and grit to midwife entire lives of love and truth into existence.
To all mothers whether depicted in photographs or only embraced in heaven's tender light until now, we thank you. We honor you. We celebrate the courage of your womb spaces to host galaxies of world-shaping potential. Your nurturing presence self-sacrificing each day plants the gardens for all we were created to become. Alongside you, we birth justice, peace, joy and healing until Earth looks just a little more like home each day.
