Namaste.
Greetings from me @nemzy to all my great friends in this beautiful community, Indiaunited.
Happy 2nd Sunday in the month of July 🥳
Hope we all went to church/mosque to give thanks to our Creator for His benevolence upon us.
I'm super excited to participate once again in this week's contest and i love the topic so very much, hence i told myself i must submit my entry today before the hustle of the week makes me miss out on participating because this week's gonna be very hectic on me.
Funny enough this topic on fitness and health has been something i made research on sometime ago due my husband's health condition way back 2021.
Some people would take being fit and being healthy to mean one and the same thing but i disagree and i would prove my claim on that.
One can be physically fit but he's not healthy and on the other hand, one can can also be healthy yet he's not physically fit.
WHAT IS FITNESS?
I would say that fitness is when someone is able to carry out a particular activity, be it exercise or any manual work without getting unnecessarily tired and worn out. Please note the word"unnecessarily".
Of course there's every tendency for one to be tired after any activity that requires some bit of energy. But situations when someone can't even run a short distance without his heart panting heavily or someone climbing the staircase and breathing heavily, is such a person termed as being fit or unfit?🤔 Let's ponder on this.
One who's fit should have enough stamina to complete different tasks with enough strength and power.
One who's 100% fit will have a very flexible body and will be able to maintain balance always. Some people can't stand for too long without getting tired and looking for a seat.
HOW IS SOMEONE HEALTHY?
I will define being healthy using the World Health Organization's definition. It says and i quote"that being healthy is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
In my own understanding, a healthy person is one with a strong immune system, having high resistance against sickness, full of energy, maintaining a good mood always.
The crux of the matter is about having a healthy lifestyle. A lot of people aren't careful about their nutrition. Living healthy doesn't really depend on one's wealth status. You can be wealthy but decide to spend your money on junks instead of having balanced nutritional diet, getting good rest, taking a walk at least 30minutes daily.
In fact, the actifit community has really helped me on this. There's no day i don't take a walk and this had improved my health status even though i wasn't falling sick too much any way.lol
So one is healthy when your body and mind is functioning properly and you achieve wellness when you're able to maintain a healthy condition.
So do we now see any difference between being fit and being healthy.
CONCLUSION: To answer this question "if i consider myself as being fit or healthy", I'd say that I'm healthy but I don't see myself as being fit so I'll need to really work on being fit by probably exercising more.
The issue of being fit/healthy involves a holistic approach not just a part. The entire body, mind and soul must connect to ensure complete wellness.
For instance, a mad person on the street can be healthy but mentally, the person is unhealthy.
Hope this post makes sense to someone reading it.
I'll be inviting @ijelady, @chydolar, @ogechukwu-martha, @unkleB4life, @killgate to mention but a few to tell us if they're fit/ healthy.
It's really interesting to know.
