My response to the @Indiaunited Contest - Theme: A Tradition or Ritual That Means a Lot to you?
We Indians have too many traditions and rituals in our life, and I kind of like that because that's what makes our life vibrant and also fills up with a lot of positive energy. Most of the traditions get passed on to us from our ancestors. I got it from mother and she from her mother, so it keeps continuing. Though I have been passing it on to my son, I am not sure if he will continue, because men in general are not very sensitive about it.
As such I follow many rituals, but there are 2 main rituals that mean a lot to me. One is the Ganesh Chaturthi festival 2 days ritual that I do at my home and the other is the 4 days Angels Feast ceremony that I participate at my neighbor's home every year.
I am a devotee of Lord Ganesha and have very strong faith in him. Ganesh Chaturthi is the time which I take it as my gratitude period for him by serving him whole heartedly for 2 days. It's not that on the rest of the days of the year I am not grateful but this is a very special time of the year. The 2 days ritual preparations start days in advance, there is prayers, singing of devotional songs, preparing special foods, having people come over home to seek Bappa's blessings and so much happening during these 2 days. The festival got completed just a few days ago and I did share some pictures and updates about how I celebrated it. These 2 days are completely devoted to him and no other life exists during these 2 days.

The other ritual is the Angel Feast ritual. This was not passed on to me from my family. I became aware of it from my neighbor, who worships Archangels and Angels, and once a year she hosts a 4 days ceremony as a thanksgiving to the Angels. The first time I attended was in 2008 and I felt very connected to it. I felt like it was my calling. After that I learned a lot about the Angels energy, how to use them in day to day life and also on healing matters. I use a lot of it in my healing practices. Every year in the first week of Aug the feast is hosted, and we a group of ladies who have been involved in it since the past few years, we take up different activities to do for the feast. During these 4 days we do a lot of meditation and other spiritual practices and invoking the divine energies.
This is a picture from our Angels Feast ritual.
Both of these rituals mean a lot to me. I feel connected to my source when I am doing it. The energy is divine and I am so much immersed in it. Feels like there is nothing else in life in these days, it's only me and these energies interacting with each other.
