Cheerful greetings everyone 👋.
With so much going on in the lives of different people and places around the world,it is no wonder that many people are becoming discouraged and unmotivated.
The amounts of suicidal thoughts and acts alone is scary. Young able bodied men and women just give up on life because of how overwhelmed they feel due to the burdens and challenges of life. This is quite sad and that's why it is important to keep yourself motivated especially at those times when you are down.
It is easy to be motivated when things are going well, when it seems like “life is a bed of roses” but what happens when our plans don't go through? How do we cope with a cancelled contract, business deal, sponsorship, death of a promising loved one? How do we stay motivated to keep doing life so that we can come out on top?
This is the food for thought that I'll be sharing my views on.
I'm no stranger to disappointment, depression, feeling low and all those bad feelings that can make one feel like they are down and out but I had many breakthroughs and it is those tips that kept me encouraged that I'll be sharing in this post.
#1. Praying:
This is not a cliche, it is a really good way to find passion and strength back at our lowest points. Prayer is simply talking to God. Telling Him what it is that you feel, how you feel and what your expectations are. Praying is more than just a religious practice; rather , it causes you to shift perspective because as you honestly share the way you feel with the Almighty, your mind becomes lighter and clearer and you begin to see things you might have missed. This is exactly the same strategy that many counsellors and therapists use. They get you to talk about how you feel because they know that once you let out that frustration, your mind will be clear to see things differently.
#2,listening to good music or podcast:
This is also something I do a lot. I listen to good uplifting music or podcasts that provide encouragement through sharing the life issues of others who were once down and how they were able to fight their way out of that dreadful state. There's no denying how uplifting it is when we listen to the stories of people who had every reason to give up on themselves but they were able to keep going despite it all. It's truly refreshing.
The next thing I do is sit on the sand at the beach and just stare into the vast expanse of water before me. I did this quite a lot before because my residential area was close to a beach but since I moved, I don't do it as often as I did but the memories are ever fresh and they still have the same impact as always.
Sometimes while staring at the blue water, I imagine talking to the water and hearing its response. Sometimes, I throw sea shells into the water as a way to vent my frustration and by the time I am done, I'll be refreshed and feel motivated.
I also listen to words of affirmations from renowned positivity speakers like Jay Shetty. Doing this uplifts my spirit.
These are my humble tips that keep me motivated. I hope they're useful to you. This is my response to the #indiauntied contest. You can join in here
