Advice From A Newbie To A Newbie

Hi fellow Newbies 🤗

It's my great honour to write this for you to read and I believe this article would be in the best language you would understand since we're probably still in the same caliber.
Though I'm still a few days to clocking a month that my fish arrived in the big ocean of Hive but I can say that with the little time I have spent here, I might still be able to give you one or two advice to make use of.

First thing i think you should take note of is "Not Comparing Yourself Yet" with anybody either the person even came on Hive the same time you came. If you're the type that only moves at a fast pace when you compete with someone in what they do, then ensure it is a HEALTHY competition and not because you want to beat them off the game.

Secondly, try as much as possible to engage on people's post. Even if you don't have the opportunity to upvote posts yet, ensure you're leaving genuine and friendly comments on people's post and when people comment on your post as well, make it a habit of responding politely and also probably creating room for conversations from there.

Thirdly, It is also necessary to attach pictures with your articles and you should always try to make it a habit of attaching more than two pictures should in case you are posting into a community whose rules doesn't support using 2 pictures or below

I would also advice that you should learn to writing your articles to be more than 200 words because most communities you would join doesn't accept below 200 based on my experience and they don't allow or accept AI generated writeups because they have a way of fishing you out.

Lastly but very important, Citing your pictures is very important on Hive generally. If the pictures are yours, you need to indicate it in that very post or state it if they are generated by AI. If they are as well pictures that you got them from the supported free pictures sites like pixabay.com,Pixels.com and unsplashed.com, you need to cite/reference the source of the picture in your post by simply copying the link from the browser and including it in your post.
See an example below of how to cite the pictures in a simple way

  • Open an HTML page link tag: <a href=
  • Followed by the link you copied in a single quote: 'https://www.istockphoto.com/photo......'
  • Followed by the sign>
  • Then add whatever word you wish to use in indicating that you're citing your picture Source. For me here, I'm using Image Source
  • Then close your page link tag with
(Put all these together as it is in the picture below and you will get the result as the the next blue highlighted text beneath the picture showing 2 ladies.

You can as well just use the image link feature that is in between the video icon and bullet list icon on the menu tab to add your pictures and the link if that works for you easily.
The main thing at the end is for you to always remember to cite your pictures either they are yours or taken from a free site.

I hope I have been able to enlighten you a bit on what to know or do here on Hive..
