A fresh, powdery snow makes for nice photos 🙂 A split rail fence sits at the top of a ridge at the edge of a field along our walk. The snow piled up nicely in the absence of any wind.

The fence looks great in the summer too with a patina of lichen. The lichen is visible under the snow.

The fence appears ancient but the land owners keep things up pretty well so it might have been added more recently than it appears (and intended to look ancient lol)

This tall white pine that is split near the base stands out towering over the surrounding tree line.

Lots of birch mixed into the woods with the maple and pine. Paper birch bark famously peels in the winter. Not sure if this is a paper birch but the bark is definitely peeling.

The fluffy snow was sticking to the rough surface of the birch trees. Lots of fun details in the fresh snowfall 🙂
