Pterolophia melanura

I almost missed this beetle on my photowalk in the small undergrowth behind my house, there is a small patch of land that has some trees with big branches so that not many shrubs or grasses can grow underneath it. my first intention was to try to find some mushrooms there, since I suspect with the shade that is provided by all the leaves from the tree, will make the area damp and a good place for the mushrooms to grow. But I was a little bit unlucky since I could not find any mushrooms that day.

That was when I got past some of the small tree that grow on that undergrowth, and then noticed this beetle. It was my second look at the plant when I could finally spot this beetle. If only I had not stopped that sure I would have missed the chance to take the photos of this beetle.

It was holding so tightly on the edge of the big leaf, where it was resting. staying flat almost unmoved, making it hard to spot at first glance.

This is a type of long-horn beetle known Pterolophia melanura. Pterolophia melanura is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae .. This is one of the species from a big family that consists of 35.000 described species. speaking of a big family isn't it? hahaha

As you can see below, one of the main characteristics of this species is its long horn which can be as long or longer than its body length. The horn of this particular beetle is almost as long as its body.

It also has a few colorations on its body, as you can see there are some brown colors, white, and orange as well. But overall this is such a beautiful species for sure.

yes, sometimes when I am out for a photo hunt looking for something, but in the end I come back with something else, and nature has a lot of interesting small creatures out there that play as important part as we are humans in keeping this world as lovely as we have at the moment.
