The chaos in the world requires us to take time off to recharge; sometimes everything seems overwhelming, and sometimes we just want to meditate. Thats why my me-time is my favourite time.
A time to recharge, a time for self-care, because I value my emotional and mental health more than anything, and most importantly, I do not compromise my happiness.
Having a quality me-time helps me to discover who I am, helps me connect with the person I am from within, and boosts my mental health and energy more than I can imagine, which is why, no matter how busy I am, I ensure I create a quality me-time so that I don't break down or lose track of the person I am within.
Everyone wants to be a better version of themselves, and I believe that no one will stick closer to us than ourselves. When everything goes south, some people might tend to leave us, but it is who we've become that becomes our heroes, carrying on and encouraging ourselves, which is why developing ourselves and finding peace and true company within ourselves is a top-tier self-care routine.
Would it sound so funny that I see myself as an imaginary friend? When I am in a fix, I sit down and talk to myself. I often do this in front of a mirror, and after doing this, I feel like I have spoken to a friend. Sometimes, when I think I can't go on, I just give myself a tap on the back and speak courage and positivity into myself. At this point, my beloved diary comes in handy most nights. I ensure I share a thing or two with my diary—something I can never tell a friend except God.
This doesn't cost me a dime, as I always have my notepad at my disposal, or better yet, a pen and journal. This is one of my favourite me-time activities: a time for self-discovery, a time for growth, a moment of vulnerability, bearing all my weaknesses, and finding my strength.
Another me-time that helps me rejuvenate is my beloved time with my AirPods. Music and I are inseparable; this time I listen to soul-lifting music, one that sets my soul on fire, and I never fail to sing along as loud as I can. Even playing an imaginary guitar brings me an unexplainable level of happiness, and I do it in between my activities. As a fashion designer, I could be listening to music while sewing or while walking to my office. I am always listening to music, and that helps me throughout the day to stay happy.
Every morning before heading out, I ensure that after saying my prayer, I take a few minutes to practice mindfulness, a time for introspection and reflection, taking deep breathing exercises, and trying as much as possible to clear my mind of any form of distraction one way I do this is to set my device on airplane mode to avoid calls or messages to distract me from my me-time. This daily practice of my time has helped me to discover who I am, what my goals in life are, and how to achieve them.
I also make time for evening walks to enjoy the beauty of nature, and while at that, I ensure to capture whatever beautiful sight I behold on my phone to preserve the memory. This makes me extremely refreshed. Listening to the chirping birds, the blue skies, and the beautiful flowers around me helps me stay grateful for the best gifts in life, which I incorporate into my schedule every evening except on days I am sick and can't take a walk. But no matter how busy I am, I do not hesitate to stop, breathe, and enjoy a moment to help me stay refreshed.
I also take some nice selfies of my beautiful face because I do love myself, and a little bit of Snapchat and some goofy videos aren't left out as my favourite me-time activities as this helps me to develop self-love and self-confidence and this can happen at any time, I could just stop whatever I am doing to take a nice selfie, a goofy video and watch myself never letting the child in me die and enjoy genuine laughter as much as j can.
