Hello music lovers! ๐ŸŽถ

This Friday came quickly and with it #newtunes, suggestions for new music for the weekend and beyond!
Eight well-known and lesser-known artists are once again fighting in our favor. You can help them by taking a few minutes and listening to what they say.

Every listening is a support and if you like this selection I can be very happy. But if you don't like something, skip it.

Pearl Jam - Dark Matter

Pearl Jam, one of the great legends of grunge sound and independent production (I don't know why the video is under Vevo then? Did they sell out?), released a single Dark Matter a couple of days ago, which is a teaser of their twelfth album of the same name, which will be released next week. The song Dark Matter is, according to the band:

The song channels the collective spirit of a group of trusted lifelong creatives and brothers in a room, playing like their lives depend on it.

The song sounds very fine, but the sharpness they had at the beginning is, I think, gone.

The Dead South - Yours to Keep

The Dead South is a Canadian folk and bluegrass band from Regina. They've been humming along since 2012, are still quite prominent (increasingly so, I think) in the genre, and are known for their own, usually dark and violent interpretations of "the happy life of the old west pioneers". Last week they released their fourth album Chains and Stakes, from which this song is taken. With excellent production and sound, success is sure to follow.

Sentries - How Many Fools Can I Kill Today?

The one-man band that goes by the name of Sentries is Kim Elliot from Alberta, Canada, and has been making music since 2021. It's a new name for me. So far he has released a few singles and two albums, the latest, Snow As A Metaphor For Death, in January this year. He doesn't have a style that you can identify him by, the recordings he has released are sort of scattered across different genres of music.
The song I've chosen to present is How Many Fools Can I Kill Today? which is fast, schizophrenic psych rock'n'roll, the current music in garage circles, played by a few new bands and following tradition, but at least twice as fast as the classic versions of psychobilly.

Knoll - Unto Viewing

Knoll is a band from Memphis, USA, active since 2020, with 3 albums and a few singles released so far. The latest album is As Spoken which was released this January. They've gone into black metal, actually a more brutal, evil, funeral grind version of it, with dense guitar riffs, intense drumming, and screaming-evil-whispering vocals that are, let's say, obsessed with transience and Victorian occultism.

Charley Crockett - Killers of the Flower Moon

Charley Crockett, real name Matthew Charles Crockett, is an American blues, country, and Americana singer, songwriter, and guitarist from San Benito, Texas. At the age of twelve, he started roaming the streets, playing guitar and singing. For the next twenty years, he lived on the streets day in and day out, in big cities, in the USA and Europe, and later returned to Texas. Although he released twelve albums, he gained critical and audience recognition a couple of years ago. Last September he was nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year at the 2023 Americana Music Honors & Awards.
The song Killers Of The Flower Moon was released last December as a trailer for the new album $10 Cowboy which will be released in April.

METZ - Entwined (Street Light Buzz)

Metz is a Canadian trio from Ontario and, has been performing since 2007. They have released four albums to date and with this track, they announce their fifth album Up On Gravity Hill. They record for the SubPop label, so they caught my attention because now and then I check out what's new on there.
They define themselves as a pure punk rock band. I'm not going to get into that, it's probably true, but on these last albums, the sound is polished and clean, more post-rock or shoegaze.

Gary Clark Jr. - MAKTUB

Gary Lee Clark Jr. is a guitarist, singer, and composer from Austin, Texas. He is known for his fusion of blues, rock, soul, and hip-hop. He has been performing live since the age of 12. He has won two Grammy Awards, in 2014 for "Best Traditional R&B Performance" and in 2020 "Best Rock Song" and "Best Rock Performance" for the song This Land. Released five albums to date, and this song, Maktub is the trailer for a sixth album called Jpeg Raw, which will be out this March.
The song is interesting to me because it introduces North African Saharan rhythms into the performance, in addition to the styles described earlier. Cool.

The Dandy Warhols - Iโ€™d Like To Help You With Your Problem

The Dandy Warhols from Portland, USA, are one of my most loved bands, and I've been following them since the beginning, in 1994. They have released twelve albums, five live albums, and two compilations. They play alternative and neo-psychedelia rock. They are quite active musically, and all the band members play in other bands. The day before yesterday they released their third video to promote their new album Rockmaker which will be out in March this year. Being a fan, I can't avoid mentioning them.
Otherwise, all the videos to promote the album were made with AI. If you like it it's OK, if you don't, that's fine too.

๐ŸŽถThat's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

Before I turn to the guest of tomorrow's matinee, I would like to make a few comments about the new releases.

Unfortunately, pearls don't always manage to retain their former glory until the end of time. - Pearl Jam is no exception. ๐Ÿฅฑ

As I've told you before, I'm not the biggest fan of the banjo. However, any live performance by "The Dead South" is worth seeing. I think 'Father John' is even better as far as the lyrics are concerned ๐Ÿ™‚ .

As for the album title, "Sentries" seem to be taking it pretty seriously musically with "How Many Fools Can I Kill Today?" ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Listening to Bob Dylan's "Story of the Hurricane", Charley Crockett is like a member of this big family to me ๐Ÿ˜‰.

At first I had the impression that The Stone Foxes had Lenny Kravitz as their singer. But you have brought some light into the darkness by revealing to me that it is Gary Clark Jr. who is the one putting some good music into my ears here. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

"The Dandy Warhols - say what you like, but good rock always works!๐Ÿ˜Š

The jams are really lovely
Thank you for sharing!

You're always welcome! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I think I'm going to stick with The Dead South even though they're not very prominent. I like the pace, and it felt enjoyable.

Yes, the song goes fast in the ears.

This is the right time to enjoy some cool music today

Not only today but for the whole weekend, too. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

These are really great music collections to listen to actually

It's always great collection ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Yay! ๐Ÿค—
