Hey, guys! It's the most wonderful time of the year—Christmas, and I hope you are having the best of the season. Let's continue our talk on the WOO game terminologies. Today, we are dealing with the attribute a wrestler or any fighter cannot do without - your ability to hit and the impact it causes. This is termed as Damage in the WOO Game.
Now, just imagine a wrestler who only knows how to dodge a move from his opponent and just cannot hit back. What would happen eventually? You guessed it right—in a matter of time, he is gonna get hit and lose the match.
I have played a couple of matches in Splinterlands, and at certain points when you are left with a card with lots of health but no damage, you just have to skip that match and hope for the best later on. I'm using Splinterlands as an example because at the moment, we cannot see exactly how the match went in the WOO Game beta, except for the WOO Champions at the WOO Discord server. However, we can all know the results of the match.
So Why Is Damage Important?
It's obvious from the examples I have given above that damage determines the impact of the hit you will give to your opponent or the impact of the attack you will receive from your opponent. In real-life wrestling, you will agree with me that the punch of Brock Lesnar (the beast) is completely different from, let's say, Kofi Kingston. Check out this 2 minutes match below to understand what I am saying:
Where Do I See the Damage of My WOO NFT Wrestler?
The damage level of your WOO Wrestler can be seen at the bottom left side of your NFT. From the images below, my Jon Willow NFT has a damage level of 1, while my Bevin brothers NFT has a damage of 2.
Can I Increase My Damage?
Yes! You can see how much more damage you can get by leveling up a particular wrestler from their stats.
You will notice from the stats of my Lexi Lawless that her damage increases to 2 when she is leveled up to level 3.
Can I Win a Match Against an Opponent with Higher Damage?
Like I said in the previous post on Speed, the factors that contribute to a win in a WOO game are many, and what you really need to win a match is to understand these terms and use them strategically to your advantage.
Let's say you are in a match with someone with higher damage than you, but your speed is higher. As long as you can evade his damage, you don't need to worry about how strong he is; you may still end up with victory.
Wrestling Style and How It Affects Damage.
There are certain instances where damage is halved based on the kind of WOO wrestler you are facing. I will have to do an entire post talking about this one, and I will be sure to edit this post and drop the link in it. This is called Resistance in the WOO Game.
Damage and Finisher Moves:
Now, this is wrestling, so you should expect finishers and submission moves. In real-life wrestling, a finisher move does a lot of damage to the opponent, and it's the same idea when it comes to the WOO game. The damage caused by the finisher move of a wrestler is doubled.
Take my Jon Willow, for example; his damage is 1. When he attempts a finisher move on an opponent and it connects, the damage will be doubled to be 2.
I will talk more about factors that affect damage while explaining other terminologies in subsequent posts. I hope this was helpful. Good luck in becoming the most impactful WOO wrestler in the WOO metaverse and to all the titles and victories you will claim.
