Lazy Pirate Porter with savory pancakes for #beersaturday challenge week 407

in BEER4 days ago (edited)

The latest beer from Monyo Brewery from Budapest, Lazy Pirate Porter is also the last one left from the gift pack I bought in Hungary.

As I am going to Hungary for an extended weekend right after Easter, I will look for some more of their craft beer. I will be especially happy if I find a gift box with a glass, like the one I got when I bought this set, because I am left with a beautiful glass from this set.

Today, after a whole day's walk, we agreed with our neighbors to stop by their house for filled savory pancakes (which will be our lunch today).

Wanting to drink this remaining can, before bringing another one from Hungary, I took a can from my collection to my neighbor's house.

I had no idea how dark Porter would go with savory pancakes, so I tried it while the pancakes were baking.
I poured it into a glass that my neighbor gave me (I used to use glasses like this).

Almost without foam, this Porter beer from the Monyo brewery has a silky texture, it glides easily while you drink it.
In the taste you can feel sweet malts mixed with dried fruity notes.
Of the ingredients it only has water, barley malt. hops and yeast,

With pancakes filled with sausage, ham, cheese and sour cream, the sweet caramelized taste did not go well, so I decided to drink it after lunch.

This Porter has a rich red-brown hue and very little brown foam on top. The foam does not last long at all, but the color of the beer is really nice.
The smell is rich, a little sweet and a little caramel. A true English style porter aroma.
The taste of this beer is a little roasted, and even a little dry; with a little caramel sweetness. balanced for a porter.

The mouthfeel is medium-bodied with fairly high carbonation and decent creaminess.

Overall, an interesting beer, which I enjoyed after lunch.

Nice looking can and good sounding beer. Pancakes look tasty too!
Cheers and happy Easter

The design of all Monyo brewery cans is really fantastic 🙂
Happy Easter!

Yeah it looks it, pretty funky and cool!

Cheers! 🍻
I think the Porter goes well with pancakes! 😎

I think it would have been great if these were sweet, but the sweet taste didn't go well with the savory pancakes with smoked ham and cheese.
I should have chosen a can of IPA.

Porters should go great with sweet dishes ;)

Cheers!

Next time I will put Nutella on pancakes instead of cheese and ham with Porter :-)

:)

When beer is like this, it only reminds me of a good cup of coffee.

The design of the beer is very attractive. One detail that is different from Brazilian beers is the lack of foam, HAHAHAAA, I'll say it again, if you hide the can, it's coffee.

Joking aside, I'm a big fan of beers, especially those I'm not familiar with, I wish I could try them.

When my partner saw the color in my glass, she asked me why I was drinking Coca Cola again, when the doctor told me to reduce the intake of that drink 😀

HAHAHA it's a good type of beer to share a photo with your wives.

A friend of mine drinks vodka in a water glass. He has never been broken into until now, because he never makes a face while taking a sip 😀

Man, I love vodka, the traditional kind, the new ones that have appeared on the market are horrible. Too bad the pests who drink beer with me don't like it either... It's water in disguise.
