Last Saturday, I was on the campus of my city’s university, which, by the way, is one of the largest and most respected in the state where I live. The place, in addition to being impressive, is highly sought after by locals, not only for its educational aspect but also for leisure, since it offers various open spaces for sports, picnics, or just a walk.
It was during one of these walks, on my way home in the late afternoon, that I came across this mural on one of the buildings of the Science department. While talking to the local security guard, I learned that the mural, made with tile drawings, was created by Art students, which impressed me. I noticed some relevant references to science, knowledge, marine life, and even cultural aspects of Brazilian fauna. In a few drawings, an artistic representation showed a bit of who we are, spreading our culture.
The place where I took the photos gives access to the building of the Faculty of Science. It must be incredible for the students there to pass by such representative art every day. An important detail is that part of the ceramic used to create the shapes and drawings comes from recycling, ceramics that would have been discarded were transformed into art, providing a moment of contemplation for everyone who passes by, reminding us that art touches us, regardless of the material used.
Neste último sábado, estava pelo campus da faculdade da minha cidade, que, por sinal, é uma das maiores e mais conceituadas do estado onde moro. O local, além de impressionante, é muito procurado pelos habitantes, não somente pelo aspecto educacional, mas também para lazer, visto que oferece vários espaços abertos para práticas de esportes, piqueniques ou apenas um passeio.
Foi em um desses passeios, voltando para casa no final da tarde, que me deparei com esse mural em um dos prédios do curso de Ciências. Conversando com o segurança local, descobri que o mural, feito com desenhos em ladrilhos, foi criado pelos estudantes de Artes, o que me impressionou. Notei algumas referências relevantes sobre ciência, conhecimento, vidas marinhas e até mesmo aspectos culturais da fauna brasileira. Em poucos desenhos, uma representação artística mostrou um pouco do que somos, propagando nossa cultura.
O local onde tirei as fotos dá acesso ao prédio da Faculdade de Ciências. Deve ser incrível para os estudantes de lá passar por uma arte tão representativa todos os dias. Um detalhe importante é que parte da cerâmica usada para criar os formatos e desenhos é proveniente de reciclagem, cerâmicas que seriam descartadas foram transformadas em arte, contemplando todos que passam por ali, lembrando-nos de que a arte nos toca, independentemente do material utilizado.
