We cannot count the time that we are reading the Bible. We are the disciples of Jesus Christ. We live our lives by obeying the commandments of God. We study the Bible to discover the commandments of God and the purpose of God for our lives. We should therefore be committed to the doctrines of Jesus Christ. These doctrines are known to us as we study the Bible regularly. When we are committed to reading the Bible, our lives are refined and we become better followers of Jesus Christ.
The word of God is highly profitable. It has blessings both for our present lives and the life to come. As we are listening to the teachings of the word of God, we are learning many useful things that make us successful in our lives. Obedience to the word of God is capable of making us good citizens. There are several instructions also from the Bible which are able to guide a person to a successful marriage. So reading the Bible is good. The knowledge of the word of God is good for us.
John 5:39 (KJV) Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
It is an instruction from God for us to study the Bible regularly. He told the children of Israel that they should not allow the book of the law to depart from them. We are admonished to meditate on it day and night. Jesus Christ told us to search the scriptures because we have eternal life from them. The Apostle Paul advised us to study to show ourselves approved as a workman who needed not to be ashamed.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
