My entry for the Shadow Hunters contest is the first image. In this one, a thin green branch reaches out across dry, sandy soil. What stands out are the clear leaf shadows on the ground. The sun was so strong that every leaf made a sharp, dark shape, almost like there’s another branch growing on the soil.
शैडो हंटर्स प्रतियोगिता के लिए मेरी प्रविष्टि पहली तस्वीर है। इसमें एक पतली हरी शाखा सूखी, रेतीली ज़मीन पर फैली हुई है। ज़मीन पर पत्तों की साफ़ परछाइयाँ सबसे ज़्यादा उभर कर आ रही हैं। धूप इतनी तेज़ थी कि हर पत्ते पर एक नुकीला, गहरा आकार बन रहा था, मानो ज़मीन पर कोई और शाखा उग रही हो।
Earlier this summer, I took these photos on a bright, sunny day. Now it’s the monsoon season, and it feels like a long time since I last saw sunshine. The days have been cloudy and wet, so looking at these pictures brings back memories of warmth and light.
इस गर्मी की शुरुआत में, मैंने ये तस्वीरें एक उजले, धूप वाले दिन ली थीं। अब मानसून का मौसम है, और ऐसा लग रहा है जैसे बहुत समय हो गया हो जब मैंने आखिरी बार धूप देखी थी। दिन बादल और गीले रहे हैं, इसलिए इन तस्वीरों को देखकर गर्मी और रोशनी की यादें ताज़ा हो जाती हैं।
There’s a soft, fluffy stalk of grass in the middle, surrounded by small green plants and rough soil. The shadows from the leaves above and the shadow of the fluffy stalk make interesting patterns among the rocks and plants.
बीच में घास का एक मुलायम, रोएँदार डंठल है, जिसके चारों ओर छोटे-छोटे हरे पौधे और खुरदरी मिट्टी है। ऊपर पत्तों की परछाई और रोएँदार डंठल की परछाई, चट्टानों और पौधों के बीच दिलचस्प पैटर्न बनाती है।
Seeing these photos now, when it’s been raining for so many days, makes me really appreciate those bright, sunny moments and the playful shadows they created.
