ShadowHunters SMASh Contest – The Shadow of a Potted Plant
The sun was already shining strongly in the sky when I noticed the shadow of a small plant growing in a flowerpot at my husband’s workplace.
It was a malanguilla, or at least that is how we usually call this kind of plant here.
What caught my attention was not only the plant itself, but the beautiful shadow it projected. The sunlight highlighted every leaf, creating a clear and delicate shape on the ground.
I stopped for a moment to admire it.
Sometimes the simplest things are the ones that create the most beautiful shadows. A humble plant in a pot, touched by the morning light, became something worthy of being photographed.
There was something peaceful in that image.
The contrast between the strong sunlight and the softness of the leaves created a natural design that seemed almost artistic. It reminded me that nature does not need great spaces to surprise us. Even the smallest corner can hold beauty if we take the time to observe it.
So I decided to capture that moment and share it today for this contest.
And this is my entry.

Concurso ShadowHunters SMASh – La sombra de una planta en maceta
El sol ya brillaba con fuerza en el cielo cuando noté la sombra de una pequeña planta que crecía en una maceta en el trabajo de mi esposo.
Era una malanguilla, o al menos así es como solemos llamar aquí a ese tipo de planta.
Lo que llamó mi atención no fue solo la planta en sí, sino la hermosa sombra que proyectaba. La luz del sol resaltaba cada hoja, creando una figura clara y delicada sobre el suelo.
Me detuve un momento a admirarla.
A veces las cosas más simples son las que crean las sombras más hermosas. Una planta humilde en una maceta, tocada por la luz de la mañana, se convirtió en algo digno de fotografiar.
Había algo muy tranquilo en esa imagen.
El contraste entre la fuerza del sol y la suavidad de las hojas creaba un dibujo natural que parecía casi artístico. Me recordó que la naturaleza no necesita grandes espacios para sorprendernos. Incluso el rincón más pequeño puede guardar belleza si nos detenemos a observar.
Así que decidí capturar ese momento y compartirlo hoy para este concurso.
