A mug standing still on water, with its reflections shimmering below, no ripples-- it's a quiet scene. An absence is intertwined with existence.
I am practicing mindful moments in everyday life. My observation is that when an observer becomes a third party, it comes close to the theme of detachment. Reflections are our thoughts, very similar to the reflection of this mug; they're ephemeral, popping up and disappearing. Therefore, reflections can not be our essence. Our true essence is thoughtlessness.
Reflection needs calmness to leave its imprint. It can not portray stable reflections in turbulent water. Similarly, we can not make proper deliberations when we are strongly influenced by praise, criticism, and loss.
You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength--Marcus Aurelius
To activate the faculty of reason, we need to move away from various distortions of life and the immediate interface we deal with. Only calmness can offer that composure.
An imperfect reflection is the true portrayal of real life and real-life events. Impermanence is the mirror of human lives; let's realize this truth.
From a deeper perspective, if we could observe, then we find that everything around us is fleeting, but it's equally true that these fleeting events lead to the point of enlightenment and wisdom, should become a mindful observer of our life.
Externally, imagination leads to innovation, but internally, imagination does not lead to reality. That's the dichotomy of life. Most of the dilemmas and confusions are rooted in this imagination. The best way to deal with it is to switch to a "state of thoughtlessness" and become a mindful observer, make your breathing deep to make your observation deep and subtle. Then you begin to explore the invisible reflections of your inner self.
Reflections dissolve in water momentarily. Do not demand an event; rather, become that event, have a sense of detachment as if you are a third-party observer to your every act, including your act of being. Make it a habitual disposition. One day, you will catch the fine tuning between reality and illusion.
To be continued.........
