Reflection Hunters Contest Round #207 | Brab Tree(ତାଳ ଗଛ) Reflections

in Shadow Hunters2 days ago (edited)

Reflections and shadows are like twin sisters. There is a very thin line of difference between the two. Capturing either of them is always full of fun...but hey your shadows/reflections hunting skills could be rewarding should you join Hive and participate in this perpetual initiative.

On my way to the market, I stopped by the canal and observed brab trees casting beautiful reflections on canal water.

The canal water was not still and flowing, so the reflections were not very profound, but still I tried my best to capture the reflections. And I took these shots during the evening, in fact after the sunset, so not much light during this time.

The canal and irrigation system in my district is the lifeline for farmers, for paddy crops. Paddy has always been a water-intensive crop. So surface irrigation is always better because that does not create a burden on the groundwater. Thanks to the Hirakud Dam and Mahanadi River.

In Punjab, paddy is grown at the detriment of groundwater. The Green Revolution was experimented on in that region. Ideally, they should grow more wheat. Although wheat is also water-intensive.

Staple food in Odisha is primarily rice. My district is known as the rice bowl of Odisha. Even though modern types of equipment are at play in paddy cultivation, we have not optimized the production and land use. That is one area of concern.

Because of the MSP regime and PDS procurement tilted to wheat and rice, most of the farmers in India have a strong inclination to grow these crops. But I think there is a need to diversify the crop. The millet mission in Odisha is one such initiative, however, it should also be complemented by a bottom-up approach to make it a generational disposition among the farming class.

India also needs more investment in the labor-intensive sector. The growth regime should not be skewed to capital only. Manufacturing and Agriculture together with forward and backward linkages of primary and secondary sectors need more attention than anything else.

Each geography has its own peculiar conduciveness for a particular industry. In my locality it is Agriculture. It should not be replaced unnecessarily by industry. As such for my state Agriculture is vital for inclusive growth.

I would love to hear your feedback on this reflection post; and share your tips and tricks on how to capture the perfect reflections. I would appreciate your feedback.

That's all for the day.

Thank you.
