during a recent evening walk along the harbor we passed the main ramp for launching small boats. i recalled that i've been here on previous occasions finding fascinating shadows. and this time was no exception,
though you can't see me i am standing on the wooden dock which is below the tarmac level but well above the water level. my shadow is cast across the water, the opposite side of the ramp is constructed with large blocks of low grade larvikite stone. the shadow of the dock and my lower body was cast on the stone blocks while my upper body shadow was cast on the tarmac. in the background is a picnic table and a trolley and behind them are some boats at dock in the harbor.
i joined my wife a few meters away toward the deeper water. our lower body shadows were cast on the vertical stone blocks that are reflected on the water. but our upper body shadows on the horizontal tarmac beyond are not reflected. instead there is only the blue sky
this wider view of the scene is my contest entry. i'm not sure why her shadow is bent but not mine, perhaps she was leaning forward when i took these curious shots
