Greeting Hive worlds! I am Iris from East Java, Indonesia. This is the first time I make entry at Daily Blog through recommendation from one of my visitor @takhar. I am really interested by the variety of stories shared here and today I want to share about the very special events in my life last week, the celebration of my son 3rd birthday. This is the very first time he really understood the meaning of birthday and genuinely excited about it and as the title suggests, why celebrate it at once if you can blow the candle three times!
Due to my work circumstances, I had to life with my mom while my husband works in different city because we had no one to take care of him while we are on the clock. Also, my works require me to travel a lot and sometimes for a few days, so I was more content to let him stay with my mom. My boy turned three on May 13th, 2025. It was Tuesday, so both me and my husband still have to work.
The first celebration happened on the D-Day! It was a simple one, I bought him his favorite cake and put three candles on it. It was pretty late already when I arrived because that day, it rained really hard. It was only a symbol, but he was so happy because I put oreo to resemble wheels on the cake. My son currently into vehicles and he was so excited to have a makeshift car as his cake.
The real celebration happened on Saturday, when my husband came home. We gathered at my late grandma's house and all my siblings, my aunts and uncles came. Being the firstborn and first grandchild of the family, he is really the apple of the eye in my family. My mother got him a cake decorated with construction vehicles and he was beyond excited when he saw it.
Last year when he got a lot of birthday present, he didn't really understand, but now it was a whole lot different. He was amazed to see so many present gathered and happily tear down the wraps with exclamation of pure joy. I was in mixed feeling, too happy because he grew well and healthy but a bit sad because time did fly so fast.
Because he will start school in a few months, I deliberately asked for school related presents. Actually it was a hit and miss because he like some of the gifts like the new water bottle and lunch box, but as kids usually do, take no interest in more practical gifts, such as books, shoes, and clothes. I was very grateful for all the love that poured to him by my family, and I hope this day will be one of his core memory when he feel loved and happy.
We spend the night on my inlaws home that day because tomorrow, the last celebration happened there. My mother in law always made him a pudding cake everytime we celebrate his birthday. This year, the theme also construction trucks, because really he memorized all the name of the trucks before he even remember the name of our relatives.
My boy was also the first grandson from my husband side, and you can guess that my inlaws really spoiled him as well. My father in law brought him a real bicycle, even though he still couldn't ride the balance bike yet, so sadly he showed no interest. Hopefully he will be curious enough to try to ride it soon. My mother in law got him the toy train, complete with the tracks. He was very happy because he wanted to have a toy train for so long and I didn't get him one because he still in wreckage phase. And yeah, while he was so happy with the train, he couldn't help pulling them apart as well. Just hope those will last quite long until he can play with them properly.
I was so lucky that my boy got the privilege of growing up in a warm and loving big family. We were getting so much closer right after he was born. I wish that someday he can appreciate what he had right now and share the warmth with others too.
Thank you for reading my post, I hope you have a wonderful week as well. See you around!
