The Silent December Pressure

in HiveGhana2 days ago (edited)

There are all kinds of pressure, and there is Christmas pressure. It just comes with the month, December. Think about it. Everywhere is just cool until December, and then you hear bells jingling and see Christmas trees everywhere.

Aside from that, there’s this thing about Christmas hair, Christmas dresses, and shoes. Maybe it might sound new to some people, but where I’m from, Christmas shoes are a big deal. Especially for kids, actually. I know kids cry and fight over these things. I don’t remember fighting over Christmas shoes with my brothers because of our genders, but I remember always expecting to get them.

Anyway, so with this pressure ongoing, it’s so easy for you to unconsciously give in. “What am I even doing to my hair? What dress am I wearing for this Christmas event?” Today, I was telling my mom I was going to get my hair and nails done and get some fake eyelashes. My mom just looked at me and asked me what’s wrong with my hair because it’s not even been up to a week since I did it.

I immediately realized it was because of what I had seen some minutes online. There was this girl vlogging about her day, and it was about Christmas shopping. And this was just something I saw on WhatsApp status, so imagine what’s going on over there on the other social media platforms.

Another thing I've realized is that almost every store, both online and walk-in, is doing Christmas promos. You know what that means? It's very easy for you to buy something not because you need it or even because it's cheap or affordable but because everyone is buying something, and you just feel left out.

Let me just get my message out there. People use “Christmas comes once every year” to spend a lot of money they don’t need to even touch. To go places they wouldn’t go on a normal day. Do all sorts of things they don’t want to do.

I want you to remember that no matter what happens, the Christmas holidays will come to an end, and then January will come. And we all know how long that month is. Someone said January is 3 months in one month, and I kind of agree.
When January comes, it would be disastrous to be broke just because you chose to follow the pressure that comes with December.

“Oh come on, December concert memories are forever and Christmas holidays spendings are a must.” Oh yeah, you should have fun but not at the risk of going hungry in January . Unless you can scoop some December memories for breakfast when you start going broke in January.

In case you finally decide to go and fix those nails and fake lashes, call me so I hold your bag for you.😂

A lot of people would be scooping Christmas memories 3 times a day in the next month because they want to pepper us this December.

Herhh😂😂

3 times a day is hilarious 🤣🤣
