I share my latest pages from my traditional sketchbook, pages that were full of mistakes and learning, since it's the first time I had the challenge of drawing human faces as realistically as possible. I hope you find this blog interesting, where I share the good but also the bad, and the processes. I start by warming up with this drawing of 3D shapes that I did both in pencil and ink.

Continuing with the pending work from the previous session, I made the Bratz page from Andrew Loomis’ book Fun With a Pencil. Here you will see a great selection of cartoonish baby faces.
Continuando con lo pendiente de la sesión anterior, realicé la página Bratz del libro Fun With a Pencil de Andrew Loomis. Aquí verán una gran selección de rostros caricaturescos de bebés.
I took some notes and tried to make a model of the male human head both in profile and front view. I filled the page with some notes and measurements; this got quite complicated for me and I ended up somewhat frustrated.
Tomé algunas anotaciones y traté de hacer un modelo de la cabeza humana masculina tanto de perfil como de frente, completé la hoja con algunas anotaciones y mediciones; esto se me complicó bastante y terminé algo frustrado.
I kept trying, but the results were not what I expected. Perhaps it's simply part of the process to make these mistakes. It's been almost a year since I started taking drawing seriously, and I had put off realism for fear of this very thing, the frustration of not seeing results, but we are going to keep trying again and again.
Seguí intentándolo, pero los resultados no eran lo esperado. Quizás simplemente es parte del proceso cometer estos errores. Ya hace casi un año que me estoy tomando en serio dibujar, y había pospuesto el realismo por miedo a esto mismo, a la frustración de no ver resultados, pero vamos a seguir intentándolo una y otra vez.
I have an old book on skull anatomy by a fairly famous draftsman in my country, and I tried to copy his models (on the left). To be honest, I found the models too basic, so I took real models and made my own (on the right). Although I found the book's drawings very basic, I will finish all the exercises and models by that draftsman, since it is a book by someone who demonstrated experience and results.
Tengo un libro antiguo de anatomía del cráneo de un dibujante bastante famoso en mi país y traté de copiar sus modelos (a la izquierda). La verdad, encontré los modelos demasiado básicos, así que tomé modelos reales e hice los míos propios (a la derecha). Aunque encontré los dibujos del libro muy básicos, terminaré todos los ejercicios y modelos de ese dibujante, ya que es un libro de alguien que demostró experiencia y resultados.

To close the day, I will do drawing practice. I will copy drawings from Andrew Loomis’ book and share them exactly as they turn out, hiding nothing. This will be a good record in case I ever manage to draw something truly realistic. We start with different male faces with different expressions; there is a bit of everything. I liked some results, others not so much.
Para cerrar el día haré prácticas de dibujos, copiaré dibujos desde el libro de Andrew Loomis, y los compartiré tal y como queden, sin ocultar nada. Esto será un buen registro por si algún día logro dibujar algo bien realista. Comenzamos con distintos rostros masculinos con distintas expresiones, hay de todo; algunos resultados me gustaron, otros no tanto.

The following pages were dedicated to the study of the female face. Profile faces are extremely difficult for me, but not as difficult as faces with 3/4 views. The shape of the edge of the face and the distance between the features, no matter how much I try to use measurements, I just can't get them right.
Las siguientes hojas fueron dedicadas al estudio del rostro femenino. Los rostros de perfil me son extremadamente difíciles, pero no tanto como los rostros con miradas de 3/4. La forma del borde de la cara y la distancia entre los rasgos, por mucho que intente usar medidas, no me salen.
The last page was for baby faces; sorry if they look like they need an exorcism, hahaha. Well, with this I finish today's practice. I think it was quite fruitful in terms of breaking the ice on something I was afraid to draw. The results are not the best, but onward with drawing.
La última página fue para rostros de bebé; perdonen si parece que necesitan un exorcismo jajaja. Bueno, con esto termino las prácticas de hoy, creo que fueron bastante provechosas en cuanto a romper el hielo de algo que temía dibujar. Los resultados no son los mejores, pero a continuar dibujando.
