Engaging in Hive: Balancing Community Growth with Limited Resources
As clear as the plan of my week was, I got interrupted by the limited source of electricity in my society causing unproductivity in my growth – financially, in #hive, and otherwise. This became alarming to the extent I called the attention of my neighbors to seek to know what the possible hindrance to the power supply was for some weeks now. Certainly, I know the way out is to own a generator set, solar panel or possibly relocate to a vicinity that has 247 power supply; but with the limited enough funds on me, I cannot run that, rather, I have to use the available resource to make the best out of it.
Living in the capital city of Akwa Ibom state, I expected reliable power and access to opportunities. The state is somewhere in the southern part of Nigeria and since my residence is its capital city, I did not expect to experience the limitation till this moment because it is an urbanized area, regardless, the situation keeps increasing day after day.
The INLEO community initiated a strategy on how LIONS can engage the platform and eventually gain a reward of a premium at the end of the exercise, as enthusiastic as I was, I began the engagement on the frontend which checkmated my progress in building my reputation. The community is seen as one of the prominent #hive communities that have onboarded many users ranging from the zealy campaign initiative, and threadcast engagements to creating posts with the calendar.
However, the current state of the neighborhood (power outrage) cannot limit my growth in building my skill, career, and finance; therefore, with the few opportunities available I make sure something substantial is brought out of it. Today, I spend the day with my friend who uses solar to charge his gadgets, so that I can also charge mine and at the same time engage the ecosystem.
Call to Action:
The experience is not unique to me. Many in my community and across Nigeria face similar struggles. Some day with my accumulated earnings in #hive, I will be an advocate of change, not just for myself, but for entire communities. I will build up an improved infrastructure, explore sustainable energy options, and empower people for a brighter future.
