A quick escape and family time at NK Cafe & Restaurant, Malang, Indonesia

in Worldmappin6 days ago

Greeting Hive worlds! It's me again Iris, from East Java, Indonesia. I am a working mom of a 3 years old boy that always eager for adventure. Today, I want to introduce this very interesting place in my hometown Malang that offers a quick escape from the bustling city life. The NK cafe and resort is a very spacious restaurant with a back to nature concept. It was build in some hill side at the edge of the city with a view of paddy rice field and facilities that make your little ones jumping in joy.

Yesterday was a public holiday, so we went there to relax and enjoy some fresh air. I was so surprised when we arrived because the place was really huge. It was divided to several sections, each with particular themes, and offers so many entertainments. Very suitable for quick weekend gateway with the family. Surrounded by a paddy fields, complete with the stream and small gazebo, you could definitely feel village vibes.

I went there with my mom, my sister family, my youngest sister, and of course my little boy that was so ready to explore the whole area. Unfortunately my husband couldn't join us because he works in a different city. Qe arrived at around 3 PM, because we wanted to enjoy the sunset here and it was always wise to go after the kids napping.

It was mainly a restaurant so the offers a lot of seating option to choose. The indoor area was a 3 stories building with open air that offers glasses patio, garden views, with a hint of modern minimalist touch. The first floor offered vintage restaurant vibes with wooden tables and comfy chairs, while on the upstair offered aesthetic seating among the shady trees overlooking litlle streams that run through the area. Usually people prefer to book the second and third floor for a gathering because you can reserve the whole floor for the event. You would need to cross the glasses bridge to reach the third story and it was so cool.

We chose one of the outdoor gazebos that overlooking the paddy filed and a fish pond because my boy just love feeding the fishes. While we waited for the food we spent time with feeding the fishes, playing on the little hut on top the stream and also running around the open area. There was also water bicycle and tricycles to rent but my boy still to small for those amusement.

Our food was finally arrived, and it was quite okay. We ordered some prawns, fried noodle, fried guramee with salted egg sauce, fish and chips and saute vegies. This restaurant offered Chinese, Javanese, and Western cuisine but after tested some of the menus, we thought that the Western cuisine was the best option.

After eating, my boy was so eager to explore the whole area. So I left my family for our usual adventures. The restaurant had a small playground so we went there first, but the toys was limited so he soon became bored. Under the playground there was a koi pond and a small fast food themed eatery that sold fried chicken. The exterior was nice, but the inside was a bit too dark I thought. My boy was very happy playing with the koi fishes. We also feed them again until he almost fell to the pond.

Then we continue our journey to explore the area. You have to go up and down through stone steps, so forgot about heels. There was a little stream running down the steps that made the vibes so calming and natural. It also had a coffee roaster hut in the middle of forest themed garden, which was really cute.

Then we found the swimming pool. It was pretty decent with slides and water boom, but it was already evening and I didn't bring any swimsuit so we had to skip it. Turned out this place also offered a flying fox and outbond area as well, but it didn't operate yesterday, seemed like we need to reserve for a group tour to use those facilities.

The sun already set and we only covered half of the area. As usual, my boy was still in a high spirit, while I actually was so ready to sit down and relax. But that was okay, because this kind of pure curiosity and joy wouldn't be long. Soon he was too grow up to be amazed by simple things, so we continue our journey to the other side of the area.

On the valley side, there was another restaurant with castle like design. This was the fine dining section that right beside the swimming pool. The menu also more pricey than the cafe but it was perfect to supervise the kids if they went swimming. Perhaps we will try this restaurant some other time. It also had an amphitheater seating area right in front of a big stage. Since yesterday was a public holiday, there are live music going on and we decided to move there.

My son was so happy running around the tiered seating and jumping from bean bag to bean bag. Again, his never ending energy always amazed me, just where he kept it in that little body anyway. Finally he was a bit tired and I was able to catch my breath and enjoy the cool evening air. I was very happy that I decided to visit this cafe because I could enjoy a quality time with my family while stepping back from the busy city. So far, I thought this cafe was a really good place to spend time with your special ones.

The night views were also amazing, with cricket singing on the background and dim light around the paddy field. It was so easy to forget that after 20 minutes drive we will be welcomed with traffic jam and the sound of vehicles. And turned out they also recently build some bungalows on the side of the teather, so perhaps someday we will spend a night here so my boy can swim, run, and trying all the amusement at his heart content.

Thank you for reading my holiday story and I do hope that you have plenty of quality time with your beloved ones. Here's the world mapping link for you.
See you on the next trip!
