Good night to all my beloved hive friends ♥️
I am a lover of sea shells or freshwater shells, the taste is indeed very delicious and tasty, but I do not know how to find and get them directly from nature, well in this post I will share an experience on how to find shells in the river, of course this is a journey that can give me a lot of useful experience and knowledge, every moment that happens I managed to capture, and I think this will be a very interesting topic for us to discuss thoroughly here.
Let's start
Today, precisely in the afternoon, I received an invitation from my grandmother to go to the river in Teupok village to look for freshwater mussels, hearing the invitation I was immediately tempted and immediately said yes, and it turned out that my two aunts also joined this trip and they also brought their children, so the total number of people who joined this trip was 13 people, 6 adults and the rest were small children.
We did this trip at four in the afternoon and my grandmother said it was the right time because the river water was receding, but I didn't know what the function of the receding river and the rising river was, at that time I had a lot of questions, but I saved them first and I will ask later when we arrive at the river later. Incidentally, the Teupok river is also not too far from our house, and it only takes us about 10 minutes to get there.
When we arrived there, we immediately looked for our respective parking spaces.there was no parking area here because it is not a tourist spot, so we chose to park our motorbikes right on the edge of the river. When we arrived at the river, my grandmother immediately got out there, and I can conclude that she had wanted to visit this river for a long time,my aunts and children also immediately got out into the river.
This is the only bridge to cross this river, the bridge is quite long and very small, and there is no guardrail, so it is advisable to be very careful when you want to cross this bridge. The water conditions in this river are also in accordance with what my grandmother expected, which is receding.
It so happened that at that time I was also carrying a lot of equipment in my bag, so I had to find a suitable place to store my bag first, luckily on the edge of this river there was an empty hut, so I immediately approached the hut to store my bag there, no need to worry, the distance of this hut was very close to the location where we were looking for shells.
At first I was a little hesitant to go down into the river, because I was afraid the water in this river was deep, but my grandmother assured me that this river was not deep, and also at that time the water was receding so the water was only as high as an adult's knee, hearing that statement I immediately went down into the river without hesitation. At that time I chose to capture this moment first.
From inside the river I can also see the bridge that I previously crossed and it is also visible up to its foundation, oh yes, this river is in the middle of a fish pond area, Teupok village is also famous for its very large fish pond area, so it is not surprising that many of the residents here work as fishermen.
And in the river I could see my aunt and the children busy looking for shells.
It so happened that at that time my grandmother chose to look for shells across the bridge, so at that time there were two different groups, but a few moments later my grandmother called us all to form just one group, I don't know whether they had caught a lot of shells or not because at that time I was too busy to capture this moment.
After approaching the grandmother's location, they immediately sat close together while continuing to look for shells, and at this moment I immediately asked the grandmother what had previously made me curious, first I asked what the function of the receding river water was for looking for shells, the grandmother answered that when the river water was receding, people would be able to go down to the river to look for shells, because at that time there would be many shells coming out of their nests, and another function of the receding river water was that the water in the river became very shallow so it was easier to look for shells, this was a reason that had crossed my mind, but I was satisfied after getting an answer from the grandmother
It turns out that my grandmother and my aunts are very skilled at looking for shells in the river,it didn't take long for them to collect a lot of shells, and these are the shells they managed to get.
And at this moment, my grandmother immediately taught me how to pick up shells, the method is to dig the ground a little and we will get shells at a depth of about 15 cm, it sounds easy enough but it's different when we do it ourselves, many shells will hurt our hands if we do it carelessly, and because many shells are empty, it makes it a bit difficult for us to determine which shells are still alive, but for those who are already proficient, this is commonplace and can be done easily and quickly.
However, not far from where we were looking for shells, I managed to see a mangrove area growing on the edge of the lake, because I was curious, I tried to approach the mangrove area first.
Do you know what comes to my mind when I see a mangrove tree? What comes to my mind is that there are so many crabs making nests in the mangrove area, this is because I often watch content about people looking for crabs in the mangrove area on social media, so now I keep thinking about that when I see a mangrove tree Lol
With curiosity I tried to approach this mangrove tree more closely.
Due to my lack of knowledge about how to catch crabs directly from their nests,so I did not dare to do it. Of course, my curiosity made me want to feel around the mangrove, but my fear made me give up on my intention to do so.
I didn't want to take any risks, and I didn't know anything about this place, so I immediately chose to return to my grandmother's group. At that time, I immediately put my cell phone in my bag and started looking for shells, and on this occasion we managed to collect a lot of shells and it was enough to make soup for dinner.
