In Havana,the capital of Cuba, there are many tourist sites, excellent places for entertainment and leisure. Among this wide array are the numerous hotels in the city. That's why today I want to tell you about my experience from a few days ago, when I visited the Meliá Cohiba Hotel.

En La Habana, capital de Cuba, hay muchos sitios turísticos, excelentes lugares para el entretenimiento y el ocio. Dentro de esa gran gama se encuentran los múltiples hoteles que hay en la ciudad. Por eso hoy quiero hablarles de mi experiencia, de hace unos días, cuando visité el Hotel Meliá Cohíba.
I had been here on other occasions for work reasons,for meetings when I worked as a Human Resources Specialist at the Marina Hemingway. But this last visit was for pure pleasure and to meet up with a friend of mine who works there, Indira.
Ya había estado aquí en otras ocasiones por cuestiones de trabajo, en reuniones cuando trabajaba como Especialista de Recursos Humanos en la Marina Hemingway. Pero esta última visita fue por puro placer y para reunirme con una amiga que trabaja allí, Indira.
The Meliá Cohiba Hotel is a five-star category hotel,founded in 1994 and renovated in 2021. It is one of the most visited and well-known hotels in Cuba; its beauty and prestige are internationally recognized. It is located in a favorable position on the coast, on Avenida Paseo, just a few meters from the Havana Malecón and the Galerías de Paseo Shopping Center. The sea breeze there is constant. The rooms in this hotel offer a broad view of the city and the sea.
El Hotel Meliá Cohiba es categoría cinco estrellas, fue fundado en 1994 y renovado en 2021. Es uno de los hoteles más visitados y conocidos de Cuba, su belleza y prestigio son reconocidos internacionalmente. Está ubicado en una favorable posición del litoral, en la avenida Paseo, a pocos metros del Malecón de La Habana y del Centro Comercial Galerías de Paseo. La briza del mar allí es permanente. Las habitaciones de este hotel ofrecen una amplia vista a la ciudad y al mar.
The first thing that strikes you about this colossal building is its size, its impressive structure, its elegance, and its modern design. You stand in front of it and, with its 22 floors, you feel as small as an ant. Then there is its entrance with doors that open automatically, like those at the José Martí International Airport.
Lo primero que impacta de este coloso es su tamaño, su imprecionante estructura, su elegancia y su moderno diseño. Uno se para frente a él y con sus 22 pisos, uno se siente pequeño como una hormiga. Luego está su entrada con puertas que se abren solas como las del Aeropuerto Nacional Martí.
But the real magic explodes when you cross its glass doors and see its spectacular Lobby.When the visitor enters, they find a space of exceptional beauty, cleanliness, elegance, and glamour—a feast for the senses.
Pero la verdadera magia explota al cruzar sus puertas de cristal y ver su espectacular Lobby. Cuando el visitante entra se encuentra con un espacio de una belleza, limpieza, elegancia y glamour excepcional, una fiesta a los sentidos.
The decoration here is exquisite, on another level. There are sculptural pieces and some ceiling lamps made of crystal that dazzle anyone. It's like entering another world, another dimension.
La decoración aquí es exquisita, de otro nivel. Hay piezas escultóricas y unas lamparas de techo hechas de cristal que deslumbran a cualquiera. Es como entrar a otro mundo, otra dimensión.
I found out that all the flowers adorning the hotel are natural.I was sitting and walking around the Lobby for a good while while waiting for my friend, so I had time to enjoy it and take some photos.
Supe que todas las flores que adornan el hotel son naturales. Estuve sentada y caminando en el Lobby durante un buen rato mientras espera a mi amiga, así que tuve tiempo de disfrutarlo y tomar algunas fotos.
On the first floor of the hotel, you'll find the reception, a Lobby bar, several shops, and other departments like customer service, where Indira works. She was kind enough to give me a little tour of the facility.
En la primera planta del hotel se encuentran la recepción, el Lobby bar, varias tiendas y otros departamentos como los de atención al cliente donde labora Indira, quien con gran placer me hizo un pequeño tour por la instalación.
To go up to the second floor,besides the elevators of course, there are those escalators that go up and down by themselves, like the ones at the José Martí Airport, which always give me a little scare because I think they're going to bite my feet.
Para subir al segundo piso, a parte de los elevadores, por supuesto, hay unas escaleras de esas que suben y bajan solas, como las del Aeropuerto José Martí, que siempre me dan un sustico porque pienso que me van a morder los pies.
On its second floor,there is an open-space gallery, an exhibition and sale of artworks and antiques. The walls are covered with excellent paintings which, furthermore, can be sold to anyone who wants them, just like the antiques. Later I will show you this area of the hotel in another post.
En su segunda planta hay una galería a espacio abierto, una expo-venta de obras de arte y antigüedades. Las paredes están cubiertas de excelentes pinturas que además, pueden ser vendidas a quien las desee al igual que las antigüedades. Más adelante les mostraré en otro post esta área del hotel.
On that same level is the hotel's swimming pool.An immense marvel that possesses a charm reflected in its crystalline, clean, transparent waters.
En ese mismo nivel se encuentra la piscina del hotel. Una maravilla inmensa que posee un encanto que se refleja en sus aguas cristalinas, limpias, transparentes.
El gimnasio es otras de las opciones del hotel, habilitado con equipos muy modernos. En otro momento volveré con más sobre esta grata visita.
