El 20 de julio de este 2025 cumplí años, y ese día recibí infinidad de felicitaciones y obsequios.
Eso me dio mucha satisfacción, porque para ser un tipo al que no le agradan las fiestas, ni los grupos, y que no anda con intenciones de ser amigo de todo el mundo, descubrí que hay una cantidad enorme de personas que me estima... o dice estimarme. O quizá son una cuerda de interesados hipócritas. Sea como sea, me regalaron un momento de alegría.
Entre los obsequios que recibí hubo uno que no esperaba para nada. Ese regalo me lo hizo mi hijo Abraham, y venía en una caja no tan pequeña, pero lo que más me llamó la atención fue que algo se movía adentro. Cuando destapé la caja, me encontré con que el regalo tenía cola… y la movía como un reloj de hipnotizador a toda velocidad.
Era un cachorro Jack Russell Terrier hermoso, lleno de vida, y el muy desgraciado me robó una sonrisa. Creo que no dejé de sonreír por semanas. Solo escribir sobre él me hace sonreír otra vez. Claro, como soy un caramelo de ajo, le pregunté a mi hijo cuál era la razón del regalo, si ese animalito había que cuidarlo, alimentarlo, llevarlo al médico… una responsabilidad muy grande que no tenía pensado asumir.
Mi hijo me respondió que, cuando vio al cachorro, pensó que su forma de comportarse era muy parecida a la mía. Según él, soy fácil de querer y de soportar, pero a la vez un dramático antipático que finge dureza, cuando en realidad —en el fondo, y no del mar— soy un dulce.
Así que Chester II, como decidí llamarlo, se deja querer… pero hay momentos en los que parece que todo le fastidia. ¡Qué vaina más loca, mi hijo tenía toda la razón!
Chester es similar a mí.
Hasta aquí mis cinco minutos.

The unpromised gift
I had my birthday on July 20, 2025, and that day I received countless congratulations and gifts.
That gave me a lot of satisfaction, because for a guy who doesn't like parties or groups and doesn't go around intending to be friends with everyone, I discovered that there are a huge number of people who esteem me... or at least he says he does. Or maybe they're just a bunch of hypocritical self-interested people. Be that as it may, they gave me a moment of joy.
Among the gifts I received, there was one that I did not expect at all. That gift was given to me by my son Abraham, and it came in a not-so-small box. However, what caught my attention the most was that something was moving inside. When I opened the box, I found that the gift had a tail... and it was moving like a hypnotist's watch at full speed.
He was a beautiful Jack Russell Terrier puppy, full of life, and the very unfortunate stole a smile from me. I think I haven't stopped smiling for weeks. Just writing about him makes me smile again. Of course, since I am a garlic candy, I asked my son what the reason was for the gift, if that little animal had to be taken care of, fed, taken to the doctor... a very big responsibility that I had not planned to assume.
My son replied that, when he saw the puppy, he thought that its way of behaving was very similar to mine. According to him, I am easy to like and to bear, but at the same time an unfriendly dramatist who pretends to be harsh, when in reality — deep down, and not from the sea — I am sweet.
So Chester II, as I decided to call him, lets himself be loved... but there are times when it seems that everything annoys him. What a crazy pod, my son was absolutely right!
Chester is similar to me.
