The activities of rodents within and around the Boys High School was becoming highly unbearable students were advised to stay indoors for two hours. This is to enable to authority fumigate the walkways, playground and the assembly hall.
In every instructions given, there will always be those who will either circumvent it or look for a way to thwart it. That was the case here. Melvin and his friends remembered the orange they were monitoring at the school garden. By now it must have ripened and waiting for harvest. If they don't swoop in and harvest the oranges other students may get there first before them and harvest it.
As soon as Melvin realized that the hall master had stepped out, he went to his friends Ken and Pat and they discussed their exit plan. They used the back door and sneaked out. Trust students, their art of lying is second to none. Melvin and his friends already have one prepared assuming they are caught!
When they felt that the coast was clear enough they sneaked out of the back door. Soon they were on the track road leading to the school farm. They hurriedly harvested the oranges and like ants, they filed back to the hostel. Fortunately, they were not caught.
