Rehabilitation is good but not for everyone

Rehabilitation centres can also be referred to as correctional centres, a place where people are being restored back to a good state, a place where
the necessary training and education are given to allow for a successful reintegration into society.
To start with, I'll say as we have different kinds of people so also we have different kinds of criminals, some are hardened criminals that no matter how much you pamper them, they will still behave like what they really are. Criminals are not always sorry for their actions when being caught but they are sober because they are caught. Most times you see a criminal that's pleading for mercy when they are caught, it's not that the criminal is sorry for his actions or because the criminal is ready to change but just because they had being caught.

Correcting criminals and giving them another chance would have been the best option but I guess it won't really work especially in a country like mine. Imagine someone that killed another fellow human being and you're saying they should give the person a second chance, there's high probability that the person will come out of correctional centre and still commit even bigger crimes.
Truth be told, some criminals needs to be sentenced to life imprisonment immediately if the government won't kill them for killing another fellow human being, because if such people just go to prison for a little time and then come back into the society, how do think the family of those that their child was killed would feel, of course it's not as if sentencing the criminal to life imprisonment or killing them would bring back the dead but at least the family will get justice and that will also serve as a warning or lesson to those that might be thinking of going into that same act.

You know when people know that they will no longer be punished for their wrong actions, they will start behaving anyhow, causing more dangers to the society because they know that the government will only send then to rehabilitation or correctional centres for few years and then release them afterwards. So with this intention, criminals will start doing what they like and crime rate will continue to increase day by day but when they know that there's a strict punishment for anyone that goes against the law, they won't want to be used by the devil.

Nevertheless, correctional centres will only work for only few of those criminals, especially those that are innocent and couldn't get justice in the court of law or those that their crime aren't critical, those people can use that avenue to become a better person after their release, because I learnt that while in that centres they will be teaching them alot of skills and handwork they can venture into after gaining their freedom.

Hardened criminals, murderers and fraudsters will mostly not learn from their mistakes, they will only be looking for means to commit more crimes, only very few of them change afterwards, so I won't in anyway support taking care of hardened criminals or taking them to rehabilitation centres. They should serve their punishment and face the wrath of the law strictly, with this, crime rate will reduce because others will learn from it.

Sort:

Agree with you, giving second chance to big criminals will increase the crime rate, some people are not meant to understand the situation of others. they only think about themselves.

Some hardened criminals may get sober and regret their actions still, that does not erase what they had done. If they are let to go off just like that, especially with how crime seems to be getting worse, others like them would go about doing worse because they know that they would not be punished.
Presently, we're facing neglect of law so I can only imagine an even worse situation.
Overall, I agree with you.
